There’s a new Micro Machines video game — Micro Machines World Series — coming to PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One in June. It’s the first new entry in the game franchise since 2006’s Micro Machines V4, and it appears to capitalize smartly on its association with Hasbro, if only because players can fight each other to the death on a Hungry Hungry Hippos-inspired battle arena.
Micro Machines World Series will include cameos from Nerf, Ouija and G.I. Joe — you can play as a Cobra HISS tank, for example — and the aforementioned ravenous hippopotami. Of course, there will be non-Hasbro-themed environments as well, like an air hockey table, a workshop and a breakfast table, on which you jump over ramps made of toast.
Publisher Deep Silver and developer Codemasters promise the return of classic Race and Elimination modes in Micro Machines World Series, as well at battle arenas with support for up to 12 players. Competitive modes include capture the flag, team deathmatch and territorial control.
Micro Machines World Series arrives June 23. Check out the first gameplay trailer above and some screens in the gallery below.
