Sandisk announces Extreme Pro SSDs aimed at gamers

PC hardware manufacturer Sandisk announced a new gamer-focused line of solid state hard drives at this year’s Computex in Taipei, China. The Extreme Pro series, set to go on sale in June, comes with an “industry-first” ten year warranty and boasts what Sandisk claims is increased reliability over the life of its new drives. The manufacturer is claiming greater performance consistency over multiple competitors per PCMark 8 benchmarks. Solid state hard drives provide significantly faster performance than traditional "platter" based drives, and conserve power on devices like notebook PCs. Sandisk’s Extreme Pro drives will retail with an MSRP of $189 for the 240 GB model, $369 for the 480 GB model and $599 for the 960 GB version. You can learn more about replacing the PS4's...

Join Polygon & The Verge at E3 for 'Revenge of the Party Monsters'

Once a year, we leave the safety and comfort of our GamePods™ and make our way to the vitamin D-infused shores of Los Angeles to cover E3. In an effort to maximize our time in the sun, we've once again timed our party to kick off the week's festivities. Polygon and our friends at The Verge welcome all of you to join us in Los Angeles on Sunday, June 9th for Revenge of the Party Monsters, a free, open-to-the-public event with music, video games, and normal, non-monster human beings. If you're in Los Angeles on Sunday night between the hours of 7 p.m. and 11 p.m. and like the sound of video games and free booze, you only need to RSVP and bring yourself. Don't even worry about your friends, we're inviting them too. They're looking forward to spending more time with you (you don't get...

Introducing Polygon's new article page

Welcome to the brand-new Polygon article page! We've completely redesigned the look and feel of our articles, making your reading experience our top priority. There is a lot to unpack here, so let's get started! Faster reading experience: Page load has always been a big concern, so we took drastic steps to make articles faster and more functional. We've minimized page load, allowing content to load inline and putting Polygon on your screen as quickly as possible. Brand new sidebar: On your right, you'll see a sidebar that sticks to your browser window, following you as you read the article and comments. Clicking an article in the sidebar loads up the content inline using PJAX, quickly serving up the next story. There are several icons to choose from, including Latest, Video and...

Polygon nominated for Webby Award

Readers of Polygon, We are pleased and proud to announce that Polygon has been nominated by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences for a Webby Award in the category "Best Games Related Website." This is huge. [If you're done reading and want to jump right to the vote, just click here. Voting Ends April 25.] Since 1996, The Webby Awards have celebrated the emergence of digital media. They are, for lack of a better comparison, The Oscars of the web. The Academy will vote later this month on which nominees will walk away with the award, and we look forward to that. Whatever the outcome, it's truly an honor to be nominated alongside four of our contemporaries, most of whom have been operating for a lot longer than Polygon. But just like Jedi, there is another ... The...

Welcome to Polygon! It's a website (finally)

Welcome to Polygon! While we've spent much of this year at theverge.com/gaming, thanks to the gracious hospitality of our colleagues at The Verge, it's all been in preparation for the move to our own domain.Since February, we've been training our news team to be thorough, exhaustive, quick, and accurate. We've challenged ourselves to make the most beautiful reviews on the web and to rethink the value of a static score. And we've been producing beautiful, long-form features covering the world of video games, from the people who make games to the people who play them. And now we're finally ready to gather it all under the Polygon domain, the result of a massive amount of effort from a massive number of people. But this isn't the end state for us; instead, it's just the beginning. E...
