Maybe it's just me, but it seems as though the amount of deals on Xbox Live subscriptions has increased significantly in the past week or two. The uptick in deals has me wondering if Xbox Live is changing this fall.
Think about it. Buying 12 months of Xbox Live now commits you to at least two months after the new Xbox comes out. This leaves only two possibilities in my mind. First, that Xbox Live will add another tier when the next Xbox comes out, and many consumers will be left over-committed to Gold. Second, that Microsoft will continue discounting Gold to make sure they have as many people as possible signed up beyond when the next Xbox comes out. If consumers already have Gold, a significant barrier to entry is already down.
It's probably the second scenario, but this flurry of deals still makes me wonder.
