So! Balsamic vinegar! The word balsamico, derived from the Latin term balsamum or from the Greek term balsamon, means "balsam-like" in the sense of "restorative" or "curative".* Would it be fair to argue that balsamic vinegar is the real world equivalent of a potion, ether, or elixir?
