Pokemon Hype Thread: All Gens Welcome - April '13

Howdy Polynauts, and Pokémon masters alike.

We're now down to 6 months until the release of Pokémon X, and Y so welcome to the April Hype Thread.

This is the thread where you can get together and talk Pokémania to your hearts desire; along with a summary of what we know and/or have learned about the game since last months thread.

Announcement: Nintendo announces Pokémon X and Y for the 3DS, coming October 2013

Pokémon X and Y is still coming this October, and will feature three new starter Pokemon: Froakie, Fennekin and Chespin.

We know that the game will make use of the Nintendo's 3DS's features and will release in North America, Europe, Australia and Japan "around the same time," according to Satoru Iwata. We've also had confirmation that these titles don't constitute a reboot of the series either.

New Pokémon announcement (14/2)

Nintendo have sent over some Valentines love in the form of a new Pokémon, Sylveon. This new Pokémon is a new evolution of Eevee, and when a player has Eevee in its party they can evolve it into one of its seven evolutions, like Vaporeon, Jolteon, and Flareon. Sylveon will be the eighth Eevee evolution. You can check out the latest here on Polygon as well.

Also of note across the Pokéverse is the new trailer for Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity, the dungeon crawler which launches on March 24 in North America for Nintendo 3DS. The first DLC pack is free to download until April 30.

April 7th Update

As revealed over the weekend here's the new Pokémon information revealed in the latest Pokémon Smash:

Wed 17 April update:

This just arrived in my inbox, confirmation that "there is a very strong connection between Mewtwo and the newly discovered Pokémon." It's only 13 seconds long, but it'll keep you talking about how this will all play out in October.
