Resident Evil: Revelations director Koshi Nakanishi believes the Wii U's hardware features would allow him to make a "unique and fun" Resident Evil title on the console, according to an interview with the Official Nintendo Magazine UK.

Nakanishi did not confirm whether a new entry in the franchise is in development on Wii U, but said, "If I was to work on a game for the Wii U, I would definitely want to make something that couldn't be done on any other hardware." He singled out the GamePad, saying, "The GamePad's separate screen enables so many possibilities, and playing on a television screen would enable sharing the experience in a way that wasn't possible on Nintendo 3DS."
