Hello! Today is Wednesday, October 24th and we're here at Polynauts Central on Polygon. What is Polynauts Central? Well, it's your place for off-topic discussion and brief update on the past day of events in the realm of Polygon.
Resident Evil: Revelations director Koshi Nakanishi believes the Wii U's hardware features would allow him to make a "unique and fun" Resident Evil title on the console, according to an interview with the Official Nintendo Magazine UK.
Nakanishi did not confirm whether a new entry in the franchise is in development on Wii U, but said, "If I was to work on a game for the Wii U, I would definitely want to make something that couldn't be done on any other hardware." He singled out the GamePad, saying, "The GamePad's separate screen enables so many possibilities, and playing on a television screen would enable sharing the experience in a way that wasn't possible on Nintendo 3DS."
"Earlier today, Apple’s senior vice president of worldwide marketing, Phil Schiller, unveiled the iPad mini, an entirely new 7.9" version of the company’s popular tablet. With each iteration of iOS devices, game developers face new opportunities and challenges as Apple unveils products with new internals like CPUs and display resolutions.
In the wake of the announcement, Polygon spoke with several iOS developers to get their reactions on the new device, the possible drawbacks of a ever-more fragmented iOS device ecosystem, and satisfying customers across a broad range of devices."
3: "Disgaea 5 and Disgaea Dimensions in development" by Tracey Lien
"Disgaea Dimension 2 is currently in the works, but it's not to be mistaken for Disgaea 5, according to Japanese gaming publication Dengeki PlayStation.
Dimension 2 is for the PlayStation 3 and is a direct sequel to Disgaea: Hour of Darkness, which was originally released on the PlayStation 2 before receiving ports on the PSP and Nintendo DS."
4: "Dear Esther artist teases new 'Stalker-like' project" by Emily Gera
"Dear Esther Artist Robert Briscoe is working on a new "Stalker-like" project, he announced during an interview on podcast Unlimited Hyperbole.
Briscoe, who also previously worked as an environment designer on Mirror's Edge, states he will be developing the project alone, creating "something entirely of my own creation.""
"Assassin's Creed 3 will play exactly the same on every platform that it is designed for, even the Wii U, according to the game's creative director, Alex Hutchinson.
Speaking in an interview with Games Industry International, Hutchinson said that both the quality of the game and the gameplay itself will be consistent across the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii U and PC."
