Cast Your Nominations For The 2012 'Polynaut Awards'

Nominations for categories are closed folks. We're now taking game and studio nominations on specific awards now. The links for those are below.

That season of the year is upon us. No, we're not talking about the holiday season, we're talking about the awards season.

It’s the same every year, the awards don’t make much in the way of sense. Spike TV has a show with a lot of trailers advertising whats coming up in 2013, then decides 2012 is the natural time to declare Game of the Decade. Inside Gaming thinks that music worthy of a Grammy nomination doesn't make the cut for Best Original Score, and GameSpot is completely unaware that some games really do only come out on everybody's favourite workhorse, the PC.

It's because of all of this that the Polygon Community is proud to present the 2012 Community Polynaut Awards, or The Golden Paddys as we like to call them.

Lets go over the rules on how the Community as a whole will choose the winners for 2012:

1. They will be shaped for the community, by the community.

2. They will be completely transparent in process and result.

3. Eligibility

Any game that saw a localized released in any region between January 1st, 2012 and December 31st, 2012 will be eligible for these awards.

Nomination of Games:

Each award in the 1st Annual Polynaut Awards will have it's own thread for nominating games and selecting a winner. In order to nominate a game all you have to do is this:

Using the hashtag assigned on the thread (An example being #GOTY360) reply and list the game you'd like to see nominated for this category.

In practice it looks like this:

"#GOTY360 Halo 4"

Feel free to comment on other people's choices and discuss games you think should be nominated but be sure to use the hashtag if and ONLY if you're ready to select your nominations.

At the end of the nominating period the five games with the highest number of nominations will be selected as the nominees. Following this selection there will be a poll for the five nominees and the winner of the category will be selected by public vote.
