Do reviews influence you?

I'm curious to know. What's a game that wasn't exactly reviewed the greatest (overall) that you still bought and enjoyed? I've been noticing a lot of people being swayed towards Dead Space 3 because of the good bit of positive reviews but I know prior to those reviews, there were a lot of people who were skeptical about how it would turn out. I know positive/negative reviews can definitely have an influence on gamers and their spending habits but I also know there's the dedicated bunch that buy regardless of what praise/criticism the title may receive.
