Just started The Walking Dead - Need a question answered please!

I just bought the Walking Dead in the Steam sale and started it. I'm only 25 minutes in, but I wanted to get an opinion from someone who has played through:
Should I play with or without the "beginners mode" indicators? I can't recall what the mode is actually called, but I have the option to turn them on or off. Is it detrimental to the experience to see "She'll remember that" and other similar notifications? Thoughts?
No spoilers please, just looking for an overall opinion from someone who's been there. thanks!
