Is playing Persona 4 Golden worth it if I've not finished Persona 3?

After reading the glowing review of PS4G on Polygon, I was very tempted to run out and pick up a copy. Then I re-read the review and decided that much of it sounded similar to Persona 3. Persona 3 has long been my unicorn - picked up often, but never finished. It's not for lack of enjoyment. I usually just get distracted and come back every few months. This has gone on for well over a year now.

So is Persona 4 really just more of the same with slight tweaks? Or are there enough new additions to the gameplay that I'm a fool for waiting on it?
