Lego City Undercover: As Good as the Previews Suggest?

It's happened so many times in the past - reporters write glowing previews of a game, anticipating playing it by choice instead of for the paycheck, and then when the game comes out they give it a middling to crappy review. The game dissipates into meaningless history and the months of anticipation are depressingly squashed.

Please, for the love of god, don't let this happen with Lego City Undercover. I think it looks amazing, and my Wii U is starved, but of course I've only ever read about it from these journalists who make a habit of forming overly-eager opinions. Let's look back, shall we?

  • Aliens Colonial Marines
  • Retro City Rampage
  • Resident Evil 6/Operation Raccoon City
  • Playstation All-Stars (good, but nowhere near it's potential)
  • Epic Mickey: Power of Illusion (3DS)
I've been burned just these past six months or so by all of these titles. I've rarely played a Lego game before, but this one looks pretty friggin' good. Traveller's Tales, makers of all things virtual Lego, have said this is there best game yet - I have no idea how often they use this line when a game is about to rcome out. So what do you think? Am I setting myself up for a big fall or will my excitement and anticipation be upheld upon the game's release?
