What's up with the Wii U/Pro controller?

I'm becoming frustrated with the layout of these controllers. I have to shift the grip of my right hand when moving from the analog stick to the buttons. This has been causing me some serious problems. In my roughly two hour playtime with Monster Hunter last night, I accidentally hit Y instead of X no less than five times. I've never hit the wrong button in my entire life, until now.

Yet I haven't heard anybody else complain about this. Am I the only one experiencing the issue?
