Angry Birds Transformers 'coming soon' to app stores

Details are sparse but Rovio, publisher of the Angry Birds franchise, just announced Angry Birds Transformers with a splash page on the main Angry Birds site. The game is "coming soon to app stores." No other information is provided. This would be the third Angry Birds to license another property. In 2011 Rovio published Angry Birds Rio, a tie-in with the animated movie of the same name, and it has also published Angry Birds Star Wars and Angry Birds Star Wars 2, in 2012 and 2013, respectively.

Angry Birds Rio receiving free updates for movie tie-in

Angry Birds Rio will receive four free episodes as a nod to the upcoming animated film, Rio 2. Rio 2 follows a family of exotic birds journeying through the Amazon rainforest. In Rovio's Angry Birds-themed take on the movie, players must rescue the film's macaw stars, Blu and Jewel. The first update, Rocket Rumble, adds 26 new levels and is available for iOS and Android devices. Angry Birds Rio was released in 2011. Rio 2 is expected to hit theaters in 2014.

'Angry Birds Trilogy' coming to Xbox 360, PS3, 3DS

Angry Birds Trilogy is coming to Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and 3DS this holiday season, developer Rovio announced today. The physics-based revenge franchise will see its first retail release as a collection of Angry Birds, Angry Birds Seasons, and Angry Birds Rio. Rovio calls it "the ultimate collector's edition," but has not yet announced pricing. The company previously confirmed a 3DS release for 2012, and the original Angry Birds launched on the PlayStation Network in January 2011. On PS3 and 360, the package will include PlayStation Move and Kinect support, respectively, while the 3DS version will offer StreetPass functionality. 'Angry Birds' downloaded over one billion times (update: and next game teased)

Angry Birds, in all its platforms and incarnations, has been downloaded over one billion times, developer Rovio announced today. The franchise, which only just launched in December 2009, includes Angry Birds, Angry Birds Seasons, Angry Birds Rio and Angry Birds Space, almost all of which are available on iOS, Android, Chrome, Blackberry, PSP, PC, the Mac App Store and many, many other platforms. Rovio boasted that the franchise racked up a staggering 648 million downloads in 2011 alone, an effect of its spread across new platforms.
