Buy a 3DS XL and Pokemon Mystery Dungeon or Luigi's Mansion, get a 3DS game voucher

Nintendo is offering folks who purchase and register a Nintendo 3DS XL and either Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon or Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity a free downloadable voucher for an additional title, the company announced today in a press release. After buying and registering the handheld and game, shoppers will be able to choose between one of five games to add to their collection at no cost. Those games are Super Mario 3D Land, Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask, Art Academy: Lessons for Everyone!, Star Fox 64 3D or Freakyforms Deluxe: Your Creations, Alive!. The promotion will be available from March 21 through April 30, though the two titles which activate the deal — Pokemon Mystery Dungeon and Luigi's Mansion — won't hit store shelves until March 24.

Donkey Kong: Original Edition free with 3DS eShop purchase of Art Academy or Crossword Plus

Donkey Kong: Original Edition is available for free to Club Nintendo members who purchase and register Art Academy: Lessons for Everyone! or Crossword Plus through the 3DS eShop by January 6th, 2013, Nintendo announced today. This downloadable version of the game includes content previously released only in Japan and is compatible with both the 3DS and 3DS XL systems. Donkey Kong: Original Edition is not available for individual purchase. Art Academy, which instructs players in painting and drawing techniques, and word puzzle compilation Crossword Plus are available today for $29.99 each at retail and digitally.

Nintendo courts female gamers with new 3DS ad campaign

Nintendo will launch a new female-oriented "Play As You Are" ad campaign for 3DS games on October 1st, the company announced today. The campaign will feature Gabby Douglas, two-time gymnastics gold medalist at the 2012 Olympics; Glee star Dianna Agron; and Sarah Hyland of Modern Family. According to Nintendo, the campaign is intended to demonstrate that "all kinds of women and young girls can explore their interests and express their individuality using the portable Nintendo 3DS — whether they consider themselves gamers or not." Douglas will appear in commercials for New Super Mario Bros. 2, an appropriately gold-themed game.
