Assassin's Creed Heritage Collection comes to Europe on Nov. 8

Ubisoft is bringing all five previous Assassin's Creed titles together in the upcoming Assassin's Creed Heritage Collection available only in Europe on Nov. 8. The collection will be made available for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Windows PC systems, and includes the original Assassin's Creed, Assassin's Creed 2, Assassin's Creed Brotherhood, Assassin's Creed Revelations and Assassin's Creed 3. The publisher has no plans to make this bundle available in North America. We've contacted Ubisoft to find out whether any similar collection will be made available outside of Europe and will update with any details.

Assassin's Creed titles discounted on PSN

The PlayStation Network is currently running a sale on eight Assassin's Creed titles and several downloadable content packs, Ubisoft digital product lifecycle manager Rommel Hernandez announced today. The sale offers 50 percent off seven DLC packs and 30 percent off titles in the franchise, as well as the Assassin's Creed 3 Season Pass. Crackdown, Dead Rising 2 and Dead Rising 2: Case Zero will be free for Xbox Live Gold members through the Games with Gold program in August, according to a post today on Major Nelson's blog. Realtime Worlds' open world action game Crackdown (normally 800 Microsoft Points or $10) will be free Aug. 1-15. Capcom's zombie and handcrafted weapon-infused Dead Rising 2 (normally $14.99) and its downloadable prequel Dead Rising 2: Case Zero (normally 400 Microsoft points or $5) will be free Aug. 16-31. Microsoft unveiled the Games with Gold program in early June, which provides Xbox Live Gold members with free downloadable games on the first and 16th of each month. To date, Fable 3, Assassin's Creed 2 and Defense Grid: The Awakening have been included in the program.

Assassin's Creed 2 available free to Xbox Live Gold members July 16-31

Assassin's Creed 2 is the next "Games with Gold" title, and will be available free to Xbox Live Gold subscribers July 16-31, Microsoft announced today. Ubisoft's Renaissance-era open-world action title was originally released in November 2009 on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, and in March 2010 on Windows PC. It will follow Hidden Path Entertainment's Defense Grid: The Awakening, which is currently a free download on Xbox Live as July's first Games with Gold title. Assassin's Creed 2 is one of two games — the other being Halo 3 — that Microsoft's Yusuf Mehdi mentioned during the company's E3 2013 press briefing as being part of the Games with Gold program. Xbox Live 'Games with Gold' promotion dated for 1st and 16th of each month

Microsoft's promotion of two free Xbox 360 games per month on Xbox Live will put up each game for a half-month period starting on the 1st and the 16th of the month, the company revealed recently on the Xbox website. Under the "Games with Gold" deal, which Microsoft's Yusuf Mehdi announced during the company's E3 2013 press briefing, Xbox Live Gold subscribers will be able to download two free games each month from July through the end of 2013. The program kicked off June 10 with Fable 3, and Mehdi said July's two games will be Assassin's Creed 2 and Halo 3. Only one free game will be available at a time: The first will be up for free from the beginning of the month through the 15th, and the second will be up from the 16th through the end of the month.

Former Assassin's Creed developers bringing Tiny Brains to next-gen platforms

Montreal-based Spearhead Games co-op action puzzler, Tiny Brains, is coming to next-gen consoles, the studio announced today. In Tiny Brains, players have to escape a mad scientist's puzzles as one of four lab rodents: Create has the ability to create objects; Vortex can bring objects to it; Force can push objects away; and Teleport can do what its name implies. The development team consists of the game designer on Assassin's Creed 2 and Dead Space 3, Malik Boukhira, former design director of Assassin's Creed 3, Simon Darveau, and the development director of Army of Two, Atul Mehra. Xbox Live offers half-price discounts on Grand Theft Auto 4, Square Enix games

Grand Theft Auto 4 and its expansions are available at half price on Xbox Live this week, and Square Enix is offering discounts of up to 50 percent on select games and add-ons, Major Nelson announced today. The Games on Demand version of Grand Theft Auto 4 is on sale for $9.99. Its first expansion, The Lost and Damned, is discounted to 400 Microsoft Points ($5), while the second, The Ballad of Gay Tony, is half off at 800 Microsoft Points ($10). Several games from Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed series have been discounted 50 percent today as part of Microsoft's Xbox Live Ultimate Game Sale, according to a post on Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb's website. PlayStation Plus update brings NBA Jam: On Fire Edition free to subscribers as Holiday Essentials sale winds down

A Dec. 31 update to PlayStation Plus brought NBA Jam: On Fire Edition and Chronovolt free to Plus subscribers amid the final week of the Holiday Essentials sale, according to a post on the PlayStation Blog. Released in Oct. 2011, NBA Jam: On Fire Edition's arcade basketball action is regularly $19.99 for PlayStation 3 owners.
