Awesomenauts Assemble heading to Xbox One

Awesomenauts Assemble, the next-gen edition of the 2D multiplayer online battle arena game, will launch for Xbox One, developer Ronimo Games announced today. The Xbox One edition will include the same content available on the PlayStation 4, and "both versions will continue to receive updates for as long as it's commercially viable," the developer said. An official release date for the game has not yet been announced. The game was released for PlayStation 4 earlier this year, following a delay from the console's launch window. Ronimo is currently working to  move characters Ted McPain and Penny Fox to the PS4 edition. Awesomenauts Assemble is already available under the title of Awesomenauts for Linux, Mac, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Windows PC.

Awesomenauts Assemble hits PS4 on March 4

Awesomenauts Assemble, the PlayStation 4 port of Ronimo Games' multiplayer online battle arena title, will be available March 4 in North America and March 5 in Europe, the studio announced today. The studio announced the PS4 version in mid-August 2013 and originally planned to release it at the console's launch in November, but then delayed it into the launch window. In an email to Polygon today, a Ronimo representative explained that porting Awesomenauts to PS4 "proved a bit more difficult than anticipated." Abstraction Games developed Awesomenauts Assemble on PS4 in conjunction with Ronimo. Abstraction is a Dutch developer that specializes in ports; the studio has brought games like Cut the Rope, Knytt Underground, and Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken to new platforms. "Releasing A...

Awesomenauts: Assemble, Ronimo Games' 2D multiplayer action game, will not launch alongside the PlayStation 4 this Friday, a representative from the studio told Polygon. Ronimo announced late last month that it was working with Abstraction Games on the PS4 version and targeting a launch day release. PS4 will launch in North America this Friday, Nov. 15, with 23 games and additional titles scheduled to arrive in its launch window. You can learn more about Sony's next-gen console with Polygon's PS4 launch StoryStream, where you'll find our hands-on impressions, interviews, videos and much...

"The last thirty days have been amazing, and when we set off on this adventure we never expected that this is where we'd end up," the developer. "Over the last few weeks, you have donated close to $400,000 to fund the development of Awesomenauts: Starstorm! In the upcoming months, we'll be working on many new features, including the infinite spectator mode, an expansive replays feature, 4 all-new Awesomenauts, a new map, new announcers, and custom games. MOBA, DOTA, ARTS: A brief introduction to gaming's biggest, most impenetrable genre

This past weekend at PAX Prime in Seattle, North America's top professional League of Legends teams fought for the chance to play in this month's World Championship tournament, with newcomers Cloud 9 and Vulcun Techbargains winning big alongside old guard holdout TSM Snapdragon. Starting on Sept. 15, the best teams from all over the world will compete in playoffs leading to the grand finals on Oct. 4 at Los Angeles' Staples Center. Awesomenauts devs embrace independence after 'bad' experience with bankrupt publisher

Awesomenauts developer Ronimo Games has embraced the Kickstarter method of funding projects following what studio head Jasper Koning describes as a "pretty bad experience" with their former publisher DTP Entertainment, which filed for bankruptcy soon after the release of the MOBA title last year. Even today, Koning told Polygon that roughly half of all Awesomenauts profits go directly to a representative firm for the former publisher. In order to avoid a similar situation in the future, Ronimo Games is in the process of Kickstarting its next expansion title Awesomenauts: Starstorm with a funding goal of $125,000. Ronimo Games hopes to continue this fully independent path, although it has yet to completely rule out publishers in the future. "It depends on the circumstances," says...

Awesomenauts developer turns to Kickstarter to fund expansion

Ronimo Games, the studio behind the 2D battle arena game Awesomenauts, launched a Kickstarter campaign today to raise funds for a game expansion — Awesomenauts: Starstorm. The developer is hoping to raise $125,000 to add more characters, game modes and features to Awesomenauts — features that cannot be added to Awesomenauts in its current form. "We have done all that can be done within the current confinements of the game," the studio wrote on its Kickstarter page. "In order to truly bring Awesomenauts to the next level, we would like to add features that require much more time and effort than we have currently allocated for it. "You, our community, have already been so involved in the shaping of Awesomenauts into what it is today, and now you can help us take it to the next step....
