PS Plus members get Batman: Arkham City, Mercenary Kings, more free in April

In April, Sony will make six new games free to PlayStation Plus subscribers including Batman: Arkham City and Mercenary Kings, according to a post on the PlayStation Blog. The new entrants to the PS Plus Instant Game Collection consist of one PlayStation 4 game, three PlayStation 3 titles and two PlayStation Vita games. Tribute Games' Mercenary Kings just launched earlier this week on Mac and Windows PC, and when it is released on PS4 next Tuesday, April 1, it will be available free to PS Plus members. Three-game Batman: Arkham Collection coming to UK Nov. 22 (update)

The Batman: Arkham Collection packs the series' three open-world Batman simulators into one bundle, and will be released Nov. 22 in the U.K., publisher Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment announced today. Rocksteady Studios' Batman: Arkham Asylum (2009) and Batman: Arkham City (2011) are included along with the latest entry in the franchise, this year's Batman: Arkham Origins from Warner Bros. Games Montreal. PlayStation 3, Windows PC and Xbox 360 versions of the package are on the way, although only Arkham Origins comes on a disc; the Collection includes download codes for the previous two games. Humble Warner Bros. Bundle offers Batman, Lord of the Rings and FEAR

The latest Humble Bundle, now live, is stuffed with Windows PC games from publisher Warner Bros. Interactive, the company announced today. On the heels of last month's launch of Batman: Arkham Origins, the third game in the Batman Arkham trilogy, Warner Bros. is offering a pay-what-you-want bundle featuring Batman: Arkham Asylum Game of the Year Edition. Batman: Arkham Asylum and Arkham City saves wiped with the demise of Games for Windows Live

Batman Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City will both be moved to Steam for verification and update services as Microsoft continues the process of shutting down Windows Live services over the next year, it was announced on Steam. Those who purchased the game on Steam will only be required to download the latest game patch; however, users who purchased the game elsewhere will need to enter their CD Key into Steam. As a result players will not be able to continue from their last save and will be required to start an entirely new game. Games for Windows Live services will be discontinued on July 1, 2014. The closure will impact a number of Windows PC titles beyond both Batman games, including Age of Empires Online which will end its service on the same day.


Batman: Arkham Origins will feature Mad Hatter in expanded role

Batman: Arkham Origins will turn its focus to its recurring villain Jervis Tetch, better known as the Mad Hatter, according to scans from the upcoming issue of Official Xbox Magazine as reported by VG247. Arkham Origins will see Mad Hatter in an expanded role compared to his brief appearance in the earlier Batman: Arkham City. With the introduction of Tetch in a bigger role, Batman will be set up against a number of slightly more abstract scenes featuring rivers of tea and obstacles made of playing cards. The Mad Hatter joins Deathstroke, a female version of Copperhead, as well as Joker, Penguin and Bane as confirmed villains in the upcoming game. Xbox 360 Spring Bundle $50 off at Microsoft Store, Amazon

The Xbox 360 Spring Bundle, which includes a 250 GB console and copies of Darksiders 2 and Batman: Arkham City, is currently available for $249.99, $50 off its regular price. The deal is available both at the Microsoft Store and Amazon. Microsoft originally released the package this past February, and said it would be available "for a limited time." The bundle also includes a free one-month subscription to Xbox Live Gold in addition to the usual pack-in accessories. Germinator and Pinball Arcade come to PS Plus Instant Game Collection May 21

Two new games will join the PlayStation Plus Instant Game Collection next week, according to the PlayStation Blog: Germinator (PS Vita) and Pinball Arcade (PS3 and PS Vita, Cross-Buy enabled). On May 21, PlayStation Plus members will be able to pick up both Germinator and Pinball Arcade for free, while non-members can buy them individually for $9.99 on the PlayStation Network. As of tomorrow, the Metro: Last Light Season Pass (PS3), which is a discounted pre-payment for future Metro DLC that includes The Faction Pack, The Tower Pack, The Developer Pack and The Chronicles Pack, will also receive a 25 percent discount for PS Plus members, bringing it down to $11.24 from the regular PSN price of $14.99.
