Runner 2's biggest improvement is a smoother difficulty curve Bit.Trip Runner 2's broad appeal starts with 3D environments seemingly plucked from a computer-animated children's film. At first, you have to focus on jumping. Then you're jumping and sliding. By the end, you're jumping and sliding and kicking and loop-the-looping and batting projectiles all within a second. After only a few hours, I was a running pro, accomplishing inhuman feats that seemed...

Gaijin Games has launched a free-to-play endless runner based on the Commander Video character, best known for its appearance in various retro-style Bit.Trip games. The 8-bit 2D sideways scroller features the eponymous Commander Video jumping and avoiding obstacles, complete with 1980s-style sound effects. Commander Video most recently appeared in Bit.Trip Presents Runner 2: Future Legend of Rhythm Alien, released worldwide last March for multiple platforms, and still due to arrive for PSN in Europe and Australia in the weeks ahead. According to developer Gaijin Games' co-founder Alex Neuse, new downloadable content will also be announced in the near future, but for the moment, CommanderVideo the game aside, Commander Video the character will be taking a break. "Commander Video and...

When Gaijin Games released Bit.Trip Presents Runner 2: Future Legend Of Rhythm Alien earlier this year, it did so simultaneously on several platforms: Windows PC, Mac, Linux, Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network and Wii U. Notably absent was the PlayStation Vita. This summer — hopefully sometime between mid-July and mid-August, according to the developers — Gaijin will release Runner 2 for Sony's handheld. We caught up with Danny Johnson (game designer), Chris Meyer (artist) and Dant Rambo (associate producer) at E3 2013 to play an early version of the PS Vita version and learn how and why the colorful platformer is making its way to Sony's handheld. A small, independent studio doesn't have the resources to do everything it wants to, Johnson explained. Though the Vita version has...

A new update from Gaijin Games founder, Alex Neuse, details several fixes for the newly released Bit.Trip Presents Runner 2: Future Legend of Rhythm Alien on Wii U, including a bug that locks up the console. Neuse announced the patch, which is currently in progress, via the Gaijin Games forums. Some Wii U owners have been experience a bug that locks the system after quitting the game or powering down through the Home Menu. According to Neuse, it's possible that the problem is "not even [their] bug." "We had never experienced this issue on our devkits, during development, so it seems that this is an issue that only occurs on retail Wii Us," Neuse wrote. "This makes it super gnarly to debug." The patch also includes fixes for leaderboards, settings, false score reporting and more. B...

Bit.Trip Presents Runner 2: Future Legend Of Rhythm Alien is coming to Playstation 3 on March 3 and to PlayStation Vita this summer, according to a post on the PlayStation Blog by Gaijin Games co-founder Mike Roush. The PlayStation 3 version will be available at at 20 percent discount for PlayStation Plus members for its first two weeks, though the price hasn't been set yet. It will not support Cross Buy, because "Gaijin Games is self publishing the Vita version and Aksys Games is publishing the PS3 version," Roush revealed in a comment. He ended his guest post with the Vita announcement and a bit of adoration for the handheld. "We are proud to announce that Gaijin Games will be bringing Bit.Trip Presents Runner 2: Future Legend Of Rhythm Alien to PlayStation Vita," Roush wrote. "PS...
