The sixth playable character class for Borderlands 2, Krieg the Psycho Bandit, will be released May 14 as the Psycho Pack downloadable content, Gearbox Software announced today. Officially unveiled in March at PAX East, Krieg is a reformed version of the Psycho enemy from Borderlands who wields an axe and explosives to dispatch foes. Borderlands 2 DLC starring Tiny Tina may have leaked in Twitter photo

Borderlands 2's fourth downloadable content pack may have been leaked in a picture showing a promotional image for something called Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep. The photograph was attached to a tweet by Borderlands 2 writer Anthony Burch and shows what appears to be a promotional poster in the background. The tweet has since been deleted, but you can check out the picture below. Polygon saw a teaser trailer featuring Tiny Tina for the game's fourth expansion at PAX East. In the trailer Tiny Tina played something of a Dungeon Master for a tabletop role-playing game that the original Borderlands cast participated in, which would seem to fit well with the DLC's possibly leaked title. Gearbox said at the panel that the DLC will be the largest yet and is slated to be released by the...

Borderlands 2 and season pass marked down to $24.99 on Amazon

Borderlands 2 and its Season Pass, which unlocks four DLC campaigns for Gearbox's shooter, are both marked down to a third of their normal price today on Amazon. Both Borderlands 2 and the Season Pass can be purchased separately — the core game is on sale for $19.99, down from its standard price of $59.99, while the Season Pass is $9.99, down from $29.99. If you're going to pick up both, Amazon is also offering a bundle of the two for $24.99, a massive price cut from the package's normal $89.98 price tag. Earlier this week, Borderlands 2 received another piece of content unlocked with the Season Pass: The Ultimate Vault Hunter's Pack, which increases the game's level cap to 61 and adds a new tier of equipment to the game. Borderlands 2 Diamond Plate Loot Chest launching in May for $100

The Borderlands 2 Diamond Plate Loot Chest, a bundle of codes for in-game gear and real-life replica items, will launch in May for $99.99, Gearbox announced during its PAX East panel today. The bundle, which does not include a copy of the game, was inspired by the quickly sold-out Borderlands 2 Ultimate Loot Chest. The developers said they wanted fans to be able to grab a copy of their own without having to purchase the game again, hence the new, Diamond Plate version of the package. The package will be sold through Think Geek, Forbidden Planet and Gearbox's own shop and will be limited to 5,000 units. It includes a wanted poster featuring art from the game, a mask modeled after the Goliath enemy type (which includes a code for an in-game version of the mask). It also comes with a...

Borderlands 2's new vault hunter is Krieg the Psycho

Borderlands 2's new vault hunter and sixth playable character is Krieg the Psycho, a melee-focused class that can rush the front line and deal damage to keep himself alive, Gearbox revealed during its PAX East panel today. Krieg is an apparently reformed version of the Psycho enemy from the series who wields an axe and explosives to dispatch foes. Like the game's other archetypes, he has three skill trees: Bloodlust allows you to enhance your survivability by killing damage with your Buzz Axe (which can be used for melee or thrown), the Mania tree increases your damage as you take damage, and the Hellborn tree increases your fire damage, and also makes you a lethal warrior while you're on fire. With those last two trees, friendly fire is actually very beneficial for Krieg. Krieg's...

Borderlands 2 level cap increasing to 61 with new DLC, launching April 2

Borderlands 2's level cap is being raised to level 61 with an upcoming piece of DLC for the game, which will also add a new tier of gear to the title when it launches. The Ultimate Vault Hunter's Pack, which launches April 2 and will cost $5 (Season Pass owners will be able to get it for free), increases the level cap from 50 to 61, allowing players to increase their characters' stats to new heights. Owners of the pack can access a new tier of gear, called Pearlescent gear, which will be stronger than the armaments currently available in the game. The game will have a new mode added in a free patch when the DLC goes live called Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode, giving players the opportunity to take their maxed out heroes through the game a third time. That update will be free for everyone.

Next Borderlands 2 DLC will include a sixth playable character, possibly melee-focused

The next DLC pack for Borderlands 2 will add a sixth playable character, according to a teaser trailer debuted at SXSW Interactive minutes ago. The panel, led by Gearbox's Jonathan Hemingway and Matthew Armstrong, ended with a tease at the future of Borderlands 2, including a gory, silhouetted trailer showing a massive figure crushing enemies with a flurry of violent melee attacks. "Deep beneath Pandora, an experiment has escaped," the trailer exclaimed. "Bandits beware, a new Vault Hunter is coming. More mayhem awaits." The possibility of a new melee character lines up with scant details dropped by Hemingway and Armstrong, who lamented Borderlands 2's lack of a melee character — like the original Borderlands' pugilist, Brick. They also said they liked the stacking mechanics...
