Acony Games closes after Sony Online ends development on Bullet Run

Acony Games, developer of the free-to-play first-person shooter MMO Bullet Run, is closing now that publisher Sony Online Entertainment has decided to end development on the game, the studio announced on its website. "Acony regrets to announce that we are no longer able to support development of Bullet Run and that the studio will close," the German studio said, citing "commercial realities" that "made continued support for it unsustainable." Last week, Sony Online Entertainment announced plans to shut down Bullet Run's servers March 8. The company ended billing for premium members Feb. 1. Bullet Run servers shutting down March 8

Sony Online Entertainment and Acony Games will end platinum member billing for Bullet Run Feb. 1 and shut down the servers on March 8, according to an announcement on the official website. "After much review and consideration, Acony Games and Sony Online Entertainment (SOE) have mutually made the decision to discontinue development on the free-to-play FPS game, Bullet Run," the post reads. "As a result, SOE and Acony will sunset the game and end all game services for Bullet Run on March 8, 2013. We would like to thank the players for their dedication and support of the game."
