Company of Heroes 2's Victory at Stalingrad DLC coming Nov. 12

Company of Heroes 2 players will be able to buy new content called "Victory at Stalingrad" for the game's Theater of War mode Nov. 12, the studio announced today. Launching alongside a previously announced free expansion, Turning Point, the "Victory at Stalingrad" DLC mini-pack comes with a co-op Scenario, Kalach Pincer; two Solo Challenges, Tatsinskaya Raid and Bridge Defense; and three AI Battles: Winter Storm, Stalingrad Resistance and Stalingrad Encirclement. "Victory at Stalingrad" will cost $9.99, although players can pre-order it on Steam for $8.99, a 10 percent discount. A trailer for the DLC is available above.


Company of Heroes 2's Turning Point expansion hits Nov. 12

Turning Point, a free expansion for Relic Entertainment's real-time strategy game Company of Heroes 2, will be released Nov. 12, the developer revealed today. Turning Point will include two new multiplayer maps, Rails & Metal, which is designed for 2-4 players, and Lazur Factor, which is designed for 6-8 players. It will also introduce the World Builder, which will allow players to create maps, four new multiplayer commanders and public chat lobbies. Halo film, Betrayer, Company of Heroes 2, QuakeCon: Speed Run

Company of Heroes 2 trailer showcases new RTS features like hypothermia

A new launch trailer for Relic Entertainment's Company of Heroes 2 shows off the new features and technology in the World War II-themed RTS. The TrueSight system changes the standard RTS "Fog of War" to reveal exactly what your units can and cannot see rather than operating solely from the birds-eye perspective of the player. As a squad rounds a thicket of trees their cone of vision on the map changes, and a tank shooting through a wall suddenly reveals enemy forces on the other side of the wall. ColdTech monitors soldiers' body temperature in the frigid Russian winter, and will kill them from exposure if they remain exposed to the elements without a source of heat for too long. Company of Heroes 2 dev diary explores the single-player campaign

In a video released today by Relic Entertainment, developers on Company of Heroes 2 discuss the single-player campaign that lets players take command of the fierce fighting on World War II's Eastern Front. Players will command actual historical battles like the grueling siege of Stalingrad, the fight for Leningrad, and the final push to Berlin, say the developers. "We base our story on history. There's a number of characters that we've kind of composited into ours. We're really trying to get their experiences across and portray the horror and terror of World War II in a way that is sensitive but unflinching." The single-player campaign will feature more variety than that in Company of Heroes, say the developers, including levels where you assault a medieval castle with modern weaponry...
