Some Steam users in the U.K. attempting to redeem codes for Dead Island: Riptide have instead unlocked Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition, according to posts on the Steam forums. A group of players who purchased the codes at retail found they had access to Namco Bandai's game rather than the sequel to Deep Silver's 2011 zombie-slashing action title. Deep Silver community manager Maurice Tan took to the forums to explain the situation, stating the code mix-up affected retail copies of Riptide in the U.K. and Nordic regions. "To the best of my knowledge this issue would affect retail copies in the United Kingdom and Nordic countries," he wrote. The "Zombie Bait" edition of Dead Island: Riptide featuring a bloody, busty severed female torso is still available for purchase in some regions, despite public outcry over the statue when it was unveiled earlier this year. The special edition is still available in Europe and Australia, with some players already posting pictures to Twitter of their purchases. Dead Island: Riptide, the upcoming open-world zombie action game from Deep Silver, isn't coming to Wii U because the developer would have to rebuild or port the engine for the console, according to an interview with creative producer Alexander Toplansky published in Digital Spy. Toplansky said the Dead Island: Riptide team spent time refining the game's engine, a process that left little time for making it work on a new console. Pre-orders for Dead Island: Riptide, Deep Silver's upcoming open-world zombie survival game, will contain downloadable content with in-game bonuses, discounts, skins and more, according to to a press release from the developer. The first DLC, The Survivor Pack, will include a weapon called the BBQ Blade, which players can upgrade at the workbench to superheat the balde using a fuel tank. It will also include an XP stat booster and a shop that provides discounts on weapons and items.The Survivor Pack will be available for pre-orders in multiple regions worldwide. News this morning that the United Kingdom and Australia would be receiving a special edition of Dead Island Riptide that comes packed with a statue of a mutilated bikini-clad corpse was met with shock and repulsion. The Dead Island Zombie Bait Edition includes a 31 cm high, hand painted resin statue of island's zombies a "grotesque take on an iconic Roman marble torso sculpture," according to the press release from publisher Deep Silver. The $79.99 Rigor Mortis Edition's digital offerings come from the game's Limited Edition, which contains weapon mods, skins and more. There are no plans to publish Dead Island: Riptide in Germany, where the game is partly being developed, because of the country's strict guidelines on sales of violent media, according to a recent interview with creative producer Sebastian Reichert on PCGamesN. "We have no censored version of the game," he said, "so we cannot release it in Germany. It feels fucking awkward to have one of the most successful games in years and nobody in your country knows it."
