Dead or Alive 5 Plus for Vita coming to North America March 19

Dead or Alive 5 Plus for the PlayStation Vita will be released in North America on March 19, developer Team Ninja announced today. The game was revealed earlier this month, and was already given a release date of March 22 for Europe and Australia. The Vita port includes a new, exclusive first-person fighting mode and the option to fight with touchscreen controls. In a recent interview with Famitsu via SGCafe, producer Yosuke Hayashi said Team Ninja is aiming to keep the "high-quality visuals" of the console version for the Vita port. Dead or Alive 5 creators took a 'lot of inspiration' from Naughty Dog

Yosuke Hayashi, head of Team Ninja, the studio in charge of the Dead or Alive series, recently revealed that the team took influence from Naughty Dog's work when creating parts of Dead or Alive 5. Speaking with CVG, Hayashi explained that the dynamic stages of Uncharted grabbed the attention of the team. "Specfically, it was the whole stage crumbling, and things falling off, and the characters rolling down, grabbing on to the ledges in Uncharted," Hayashi said. "We also wanted to hint at that flow you get into Uncharted, where you know that something massive is about to happen. In Uncharted you fall off a cliff, or off a boat and things like that, and we thought moments like that would be great in DOA5's fighting system. We got really inspired by that, and we've tried to do something...

Dead or Alive 5 balancing will be tweaked, weaker characters receiving strength boost

Team Ninja will tweak the balancing in its fighting title Dead or Alive 5, including boosting strength stats for the weaker characters to ensure more "fair fights," the developer announced today on Twitter. Team Ninja is still deciding what exactly to update, but notes that future fixes "are not going to do anything that makes all of [your] practice up to now pointless." The team will also not change the "concept and importance of keeping each character's individuality," they tweeted. "Rather than kill personality to make everyone the same, we'll strengthen the weak characters to make a fair fight." Team Ninja will begin tweeting questions regarding certain aspects of Dead or Alive 5. All feedback should be addressed to the developer's Twitter account with the hashtag #DOA5_balance. ...
