Dirty Bomb closed alpha launching today, dev details Echo analytics system

Dirty Bomb developer Splash Damage is launching a closed alpha testing period for the upcoming free-to-play shooter today, and the studio released a video explaining its Echo analytics system for balancing the game. "We've always believed that team-based multiplayer is more thrilling than single-player," said Splash Damage in the video. A sister company, Fireteam, developed a system called Echo to track minute details of the way people are playing Dirty Bomb, and Splash Damage is using the statistics it gathers through Echo to inform gameplay balance tweaks. Dirty Bomb developer Splash Damage put out the first gameplay footage of the shooter today, showing off an objective-based game type, and launched a "Founder's Club" for fans who want to support the title's development monetarily and receive some perks in return. The three-minute video features two teams competing for control of city streets in London an objective-based game type, with the defending squad constructing barriers that the attackers have to destroy with C4 explosives. Dirty Bomb is Brink developer's free-to-play shooter

Splash Damage today announced Dirty Bomb, a new free-to-play multiplayer shooter in development for PC from the U.K. studio. Warchest was founded by former Splash Damage CEO Paul Wedgwood and current board advisor for the studio Richard Jolly in April of this year. Both Warchest and Splash Damage will bring new multiplayer titles to the table for iOS, PC and consoles.
