Don't Starve puts you in the shoes of Wilson — a gentleman scientist (though you can also opt for another of the game's unlockable Edward Gorey-inspired characters, all with their own unique attributes). You wake up in the wilderness, with the cheeky instruction that you'd better find food before nightfall. That's all you get by means of explanation: Both character and player are left alone to figure out the tricky...

One million players tackled Don't Starve before the end of last year

One million players entered the unforgiving wilderness of Klei Entertainment's Don't Starve "well before" 2013 came to a close, the developer told Edge Online. The adventure survival title, which launched for Windows PC, Mac and Linux last April, hit PlayStation 4 as a free PlayStation Plus title earlier this month. According to Klei, the number of Don't Starve players has now exceeded one million, and the studio hopes this will mean high sales of the title's upcoming DLC, Reign of Giants. "With PlayStation Plus, beyond promotion of being a featured game, a lot of people who maybe wouldn't have tried our game did [try it] and really enjoyed it," Klei community manager Corey Rollins said. "Some of those people went on to check out the PC version as well, and would maybe be interested...

Don't Starve: Reign of Giants DLC teased in new video

Randomly-generated survival game Don't Starve is getting new DLC, according to a teaser video released by developer Klei Entertainment. The video, which is titled "Autumn Teaser," unfortunately doesn't offer much information on the upcoming Don't Starve: Reign of Giants update. The DLC is slated to release "soon." Klei Entertainment self-published Don't Starve on Windows PC and Mac via its own website and on Steam, before announcing its plans for a PS4 version of the game last June. In Don't Starve, players take on the role of Wilson, "an intrepid Gentleman Scientist," who must use science and magic to survive the bizarre monster-filled island. The game received an 8.5 out of 10 review from Polygon on both Windows PC and PS4.
