Skyrim, Fallout: New Vegas and Doom 3 BFG Edition all marked down on Steam

Bethesda has permanently reduced the prices of three of its titles on the Steam distribution platform: Fallout: New Vegas, Doom 3 BFG Edition and The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim. Fallout: New Vegas Ultimate Edition, which combines Obsidian's open-world RPG with its four DLC expansion packs, now retails for $19.99, exactly $10 more than the non-premium version of the game. Doom 3 BFG Edition is also now permanently marked down to $19.99, a $10 price cut from the game's former cost. Skyrim is still a bit pricier than the other two, clocking in at $39.99 — pretty much the standard MSRP for the game at retailers like GameStop and Amazon.

The Oculus Rift virtual reality headset has a new supporter in developer Sinful Robot, an Irvine, California-based start up that plans to bring "immersive virtual reality erotic encounters" to the headset designed with video games in mind. Sinful Robot announced its intentions to bring an "erotic adventure game" to the Rift — and "other similar technologies" — through its website and a post on Reddit by company co-founder and creative director Jeroen Van den Bosch. "I have been waiting for many years for technology to become immersive enough so it [tricks] your brain to accept the virtual reality as reality, but the Rift does really do that," Van den Bosch wrote on Reddit. "So now we can finally make an erotic adventure game that will actually be exciting!" Sinful Robot's...

The original Doom 3 has been replaced by the BFG Edition on Steam

The original Doom 3, released in 2004, is no longer available on Steam unless players buy it as part of the Super id Software Pack, which includes 24 other items for $99. Searches show that until Oct. 10 of this year the game was still available on Steam as a standalone purchase for $20, but this has since been replaced by Doom 3: BFG Edition, which was released on Oct. 15 and costs $29.99. Steam users took the forums to complain about the move because the BFG Edition of the game has reportedly experienced problems with performance and does not support mods. A Bethesda spokesperson told Eurogamer: "We do realise that there are fans that would like to purchase the original version of the game, and we're looking into options for them. When there's new info to share, we'll let everyone...

Hawken may not offer Oculus Rift support at launch – instead, it will come as a downloadable patch after the game's release, according to Hawken's developer, Meteor Entertainment. Speaking in an interview with GameSpy, Meteor Entertainment's Chief Production Officer, Bill Wagner, said that the development team is very excited to implement the virtual reality Oculus Rift headset with their multiplayer mech combat game, Hawken, but having the game launch with Oculus Rift support may be a bit ambitious. "We're really excited about it but we want to get the hardware first," Wagner said. "We've got designs and plans on how we would do it, like enabling people to look around inside the cockpit while still being able to move forward and control the mech. But it's super early to be talking...
