Sony officially unboxes the PS4

The official PlayStation 4 unboxing video released by Sony today offers consumers another look at the next-generation hardware and gives them a run-down at what they can expect when they receive the console. The video highlights the unboxing of the North American bundle, which contains a 500GB PS4 system, quick start guide, DualShock 4 controller, HDMI cable, AC power cord, mono headset and USB cable. The package also includes a network voucher for $10 in credit for the PlayStation Store, which can be redeemed for entertainment items such as games, movies and television shows. Eve Online: Odyssey developer diary parodies 2001: A Space Odyssey, outlines expansion's features

CCP Games released a bizarre 2001: A Space Odyssey-parody developer video outlining the revamped scanning mechanics, user interface and exploration rewards featured in the upcoming expansion Eve Online: Odyssey. The expansion will introduce features such as exploring site challenges, dual character training, storyline progression and dynamic travel transitions. Eve Online: Odyssey is scheduled to launch on June 4th 2013. Earlier today, CCP took down the servers for Eve Online and Dust 514 due to "a significant and sustained" distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack. Sleeping Dogs, Quantum Conundrum and Lumines: Electronic Symphony coming to PlayStation Plus Europe

European PlayStation Plus members can download for free Sleeping Dogs, Quantum Conundrum, F1 Race Stars, WipEout 2048 and Lumines: Electronic Symphony this February as part of the service's Instant Game Collection. The European PlayStation Blog announced today that from Feb. 6 for one month, subscribers will be able to download Sleeping Dogs, F1 Race Stars and Quantum Conundrum for PlayStation 3. Dust 514 now in open beta, launch trailer demonstrates the camaraderie of war

Dust 514, the free-to-play massively multiplayer first person shooter set in the Eve Online universe, is now in open beta, CCP announced The game has been in closed beta for the better part of the year. As an immortal clone solider, Dust players accept contracts to earn in-game cash, upgrade weapons and skills and much more. Dust 514's battles are fought on Eve planets; players of both games can interact and provide real-time support. CCP Games merged the servers for PC MMO Eve Online and Dust 514 on Jan. 10, creating shared mail, text and voice chat, corporations and more between both titles. Dust 514 dev diary video is all about weapons

Dust 514, CCP's free-to-play EVE Online first-person shooter spin-off, will grant players a variety of weapons to use on the battlefield, producer Thomas Farrer explained in the latest developer diary. According to Farrer, the goal with Dust's weapons was to create easily recognizable roles, but with technology far more advanced than their modern-day equivalents. The game has hundreds of weapons and variations, as well as different weapon skills players can learn. Weapons exist in three categories: heavy, light and sidearm. Light weapons are the "workhorse" of the field, Farrer explained, appearing as midrange assault rifles or mid-to-long range energy weapons. In a developer diary released today for Dust 514, developer CCP Games' lead vehicles designer Ryan Thornton highlights some of the free-to-play shooter's vehicles, which are organized into several specialized classes. Check out the video above to see what roles the vehicles are designed for, how they unlock as characters level up and how some players have used them in ways that surprised the developers.
