With the release of Dust 514 onto PlayStation 3 consoles, developer CCP Games has also unveiled three add-ons that each come with a collection of in-game items and currency. The Mercenary, Veteran and Elite pack can be purchased from the PlayStation Store for $19.99, $49.99 and $99.99, respectively. Each of the packs includes skill boosters, weapons, dropsuits and in-game cash, while the two pricier packs also come with permanent and non-permanent vehicles. The Eve Online Second Decade Collector's Edition is available for pre-order now and will feature exclusive items for both Eve Online and Dust 514. The collection was unveiled at Eve Online's tenth anniversary Fanfest and is priced at $149.99. It can be ordered through retailers such as Amazon or through the Eve Online store. The set includes physical items, such as a 190-page hardcover history book, board game and soundtrack, as well as several digital items. Buyers will receive an Eve Online in-game war chest, Gnosis battle cruiser blueprint, in-game time capsule and more. Dust 514 items extend to several dropsuits and weapons. Dust 514, CCP's free-to-play first-person shooter set within the Eve Online universe, will launch for PlayStation 3 on May 14, the company announced via the game's official Twitter account. In Dust 514, players assume the role of mercenaries on different planets from the Eve Online universe. The game is part of a cross-platform universe, meaning players from both games can interact with one another; servers were merged in January of this year. Dust 514 is currently in open beta and available to download for free via the PlayStation Network. CCP recently announced that the game will receive a skill and item system upgrade on May 6 in the Uprising build.

CCP's first-person shooter Dust 514 will receive a skill and item system upgrade on May 6 in the upcoming Uprising build, according to a post on the official PlayStation blog by creative director Atli Már Sveinsson. "We realized that trying to map the new skills, bonuses and requirements to your existing items was not only complicated on the technical side, but also likely unfair to you," Sveinsson wrote. "You may have committed to a certain play style, and with an overhauled layout and collection of skills, you may find yourself regretting some of your prior choices." CCP Games' MMO Eve Online and first-person shooter Dust 514 are part of an ever-evolving universe that is more of a webservice masquerading as a game than a closed computer game, according to CCP Games senior technical producer Andie Nordgren. The saga of CCP Games' Dust 514, the PlayStation 3 first-person shooter component to the Eve Online universe, will continue with the release of its latest build in May, Uprising. Uprising will launch just one month before the Odyssey expansion for Eve, which is designed to encourage players to once again explore the Eve universe. CCP Games will hold a live event this Friday that will further integrate Dust 514 into the universe of MMORPG Eve Online, the developer announced in a post to the game's community page. The Battle of Cadari Prime will take place sometime tomorrow morning ET, and has been designed to demonstrate the depth of integration between the two titles, according to CCP. Up until this point, the developer has hosted in-game events bringing the two games in closer contact, but Caldari Prime will "kick off" what the developer hints will be a massive battle. Dust 514, the MMO shooter tie-in for Eve Online on PlayStation 3, will have a group that speaks on behalf of the game's player base similarly to Eve Online, according to a forum post from developer CCP Games. Eve Online players are represented by the Council for Stellar Management, a body of player-elected representatives who speak to CCP on behalf of the MMO's user base. Vanquish, Platinum Games' 2010 third-person shooter, will join the PlayStation Plus Instant Game Collection this week, Sony announced today. It will be available for non-Plus members to buy for $19.99. The free games won't end there for Plus subscribers.
