Grand Theft Auto 5's PC version will get an updated soundtrack

The PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One editions of Grand Theft Auto 5 appear to be getting a soundtrack update, according to a voice actor for one of the game's fictitious radio stations. Yesterday, Cara Delevingne, who stars as the host of the Non Stop Pop FM channel in the game, tweeted a picture of herself arriving at Rockstar's studios "to update my GTAV radio station Non Stop Pop FM for new versions coming this Fall!" Rockstar Games' official account then retweeted the message. Earlier it posted its own picture of Delevingne (above), with the message "coming soon ..." The PC, PS4 and Xbox One versions of Grand Theft Auto 5 were announced at E3 2014; no release date for them has been given.

Lindsay Lohan lawsuit against GTA 5 publisher was 'for publicity,' says court documents

Lawyers for Grand Theft Auto 5 publisher Take Two claim the recent lawsuit filed by actress Lindsay Lohan against the games company was done "for publicity purposes," according to court papers as reported by Big Story. Take Two aims to have the lawsuit dismissed and legal fees paid by Lohan. The Associated Press reported earlier this year that Lohan's legal team filed a lawsuit in a Manhattan court that alleges Take-Two Interactive and Rockstar Games based GTA 5 character Lacey Jonas on the actress, who has starred in Herbie Fully Loaded and The Canyons. The developer "incorporated her image, likeness, clothing, outfits, [Lohan's] clothing line products, ensemble in the form of hats, hair style, sunglasses" and the jean shorts worn by Lohan without her permission, according to the...

Grand Theft Auto 4's latest mod lets you take selfies like GTA 5

Two weeks ago, Grand Theft Auto 4 on PC got a huge visual upgrade mod that made the game look nearly as good as Grand Theft Auto 5. Now modders have added another feature that brings GTA 4 closer to parity with GTA 5. This is the work of GTA X Scripting. It's basically a new camera angle, positioned in front of the face of the character, even if he's driving. Take a screenshot and there's your selfie. Modders have until autumn to get all their good stuff out for GTA 4; then a remastered Grand Theft Auto 5 for PC launches, and for sure everyone will be playing and trying to figure out how to mod it.

Players want more options than murder, and GTA 5 proves it

The photographs deserve the praise, not just for their composition but their construction. Each picture required the uncanny ability to ignore distractions in a world filled with hundreds of other exciting things to do handcrafted by experts in fun. As striking as the image is its context: This photographer isn't alone. Grand Theft Auto 5 is known for its controversial, violent storylines and the freedom to kill nearly whomever you'd like in its stylized take on southern California. But as the game approaches its one-year anniversary, the most popular videos, photographs and stories inspired by the game have nothing to do with violence. They have to do with lightning. Or photography as social commentary. Or shot-for-shot recreations of films and television shows. Or stunts. W...

GTA 5's Lamar voice actor stars in live-action Adult Swim comedy 'Black Jesus'

The voice actor behind Grand Theft Auto 5's Lamar Davis is starring in a new live-action comedy series, Black Jesus, on Adult Swim, the network announced today. Gerald "Slink" Johnson plays the role of the eponymous prophet in Black Jesus. The show is set in present-day Compton, California, with Black Jesus looking to "spread love and kindness throughout the neighborhood with the help of his small but loyal group of downtrodden followers," according to a press release. Black Jesus, which is executive-produced by The Boondocks creator Aaron McGruder, also features Charlie Murphy (The Chappelle Show), John Witherspoon (Friday) and Kali Hawk (New Girl). In Grand Theft Auto 5, Johnson voiced Lamar Davis, the gullible and incorrigible but ultimately lovable best friend of Franklin Clinton,...

GTA Online players can walk on water with this glitch

Grand Theft Auto Online allows players to create their own character and do just about whatever they want in San Andreas, and that now includes walking on water, thanks to a glitch discovered by YouTube user Big Spaz. To take advantage of the glitch, Grand Theft Auto 5 players must visit the docks at the Puerto del Sol Marina in the Vespucci neighborhood of Los Santos. After wading into the sea, taking cover and then heading back up a ramp onto land, players will be able to dash along the surface of the water. Big Spaz notes that the only ways to get out of the glitch are to kill yourself or have someone else hit you out of the water. And there's no word on whether this works in the single-player story mode as well as in GTA Online. Grand Theft Auto 5 was released last September on...

Lindsay Lohan sues Grand Theft Auto 5 creators for allegedly using her likeness

Actress Lindsay Lohan has reportedly made good on threats to sue the developer of Grand Theft Auto 5 over claims that her likeness is used in the game. The Associated Press reports that Lohan's legal team filed a lawsuit in a Manhattan court that alleges Take-Two Interactive and Rockstar Games based the character Lacey Jonas on the actress, who has starred in Herbie Fully Loaded and The Canyons. The developer "incorporated her image, likeness, clothing, outfits, [Lohan's] clothing line products, ensemble in the form of hats, hair style, sunglasses" and the jean shorts worn by Lohan without her permission, according to the complaint. Here's Lacey Jonas as she appears in-game. The suit also alleges that the in-game hotel Gentry Manor, based on West Hollywood hotel Chateau Marmont,...

Grand Theft Auto's latest update honors America, truck yeah

Not only is it on time for Independence Day, it's on time for another grand ironic celebration of patriotism — the United States' World Cup match with Belgium this afternoon. The latest update to Grand Theft Auto Online lets players cloak themselves in Old Glory, fire a musket and, most importantly, drive a monster truck. The Liberator (pictured) joins the Sovereign motorcycle as new vehicles, and now a musket and firework rocket launcher are available at Ammu-Nation, where GTAers have stocked up on firearms and jingoism since 2001. But wait, there's more. Pleasure Pier gets two new rides, the Ferris Whale and Leviathan roller coaster. Seven new properties are also available for purchase. For costumes, a variety of shirts and masks are available, in addition to a "backwoods mullet"...

What Grand Theft Auto 5 would look like in real life

Zapruder Pictures, a duo of fan filmmakers out of Madrid, recreated the Grand Theft Auto 5 announcement trailer in their hometown. How close the short comes to replicating the original is impressive, though it's not afraid to bend reality with the help of some well-placed special effects. Watching the footage, I'm reminded how much I would like to see a Grand Theft Auto set outside the United States. I understand that goes against the franchises' love-hate relationship with our nation, but wouldn't you like GTA: Madrid? Or Shanghai? Or how about a modern GTA set in London? That worked well in 2D!

Grand Theft Auto chief set to buy Edinburgh church

Rockstar North president Leslie Benzies is set to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars buying a central Edinburgh church. According to a report in the Edinburgh Evening News, the developer behind the Grand Theft Auto franchise will spend "well in excess of £500,000" on purchasing St. Stephen's Church, a well known landmark in the Scottish capital. He is preserving the church, built in 1827, as "an entirely philanthropic purchase" for the community's use, according to a spokesperson. St. Stephen's is often used as a venue during Edinburgh's arts and entertainment festivals. According to the local report, Benzies beat out other potential buyers, some of whom were keen to develop the church into commercial property. Benzies was born in Edinburgh in 1971. He worked as a programmer for...
