Kili the Dwarf joins Guardians of Middle-earth's battlefield

Kili the Dwarf, the latest fighter to be added as downloadable content to Monolith Productions' console-based multiplayer online battle arena Guardians of Middle-earth, is available today according to a press release from the developer. Check out the video above to see Kili in action sporting his bow and arrow, which makes him an idea scout. You can purchase him for 160 Microsoft Points for Xbox 360 or $1.99 on PlayStation 3. Earlier this month, Frodo Baggins entered the arena as a guardian.

Guardians of Middle-earth DLC adds Ring-bearer Frodo Baggins

Lord of the Rings-themed massive online battle arena Guardians of Middle-earth is receiving another add on character today, the Hobbit Frodo Baggins, publisher Warner Bros. has announced. The character DLC is currently available through the Xbox Live Marketplace and PlayStation Network for 160 Microsoft Points or $1.99, respectively. In author J.R.R. Tolkiens famous fantasy trilogy, Frodo is the steadfast Hobbit tasked with carrying the One Ring, the most malicious object in all of Middle-earth, back its place of origin to destroy it. In battle, Frodo can use Sting, a short sword that glows blue when Orcs are near, to hack and slash his way through hordes of enemies. Guardians of Middle-earth getting new map and DLC character Unglob

Console-based action RTS Guardians of Middle-earth is getting a new three-lane Mirkwood map in addition to DLC character Unglob, a powerful spider from the Tolkien narrative. According to the announcement from developer Monolith Studio, the new map skin throws players into the dark forest of Mirkwood. Then there is Unglob, whose abilities include a bite that both stuns and damages enemies in addition to an area of effect attack that creates an enormous cloud of poison. As of press time, Guardians of Middle-earth features 32 playable characters in its ever-growing stable, including the newly added Unglob. Unglob can be downloaded through Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network.

Guardians of Middle-earth introduces Glóin to the roster of playable heroes

The Xbox Live Arcade edition of Guardians of Middle-earth now features dwarf Glóin as part of the roster of playable characters, developer Monolith Studios announced. Players can expect the new character to become available on the PlayStation Network version of this game "soon," the developer added. In addition, PlayStation Plus members can download Guardians of Middle-earth for free from Feb. 5 to March 6, while season pass holders of the game will receive two additional Guardians in the next few months. Guardians of Middle-earth is a console-based Multiplayer online battle arena title that first released last December.

Guardians of Middle-earth developers repurposing ‘message of the day’ tech to add balance without recertification

Guardians of Middle-earth developer Monolith Productions will deliver game balancing updates with the same technology that allows "message of the day" updates, thereby avoiding costly recertification fees, producer Bob Roberts told VG24/7. Monolith built the technology into the game using a database. During development, Monolith used this to tweak each character so that "everybody has evened out" when the game ships this week, Roberts said. Guardians of Middle-earth trailer sends Eowyn and Mozgog into battle

Monolith Productions' Lord of the Rings-themed massive online battle arena Guardians of Middle-earth has added the shield-maiden Eowyn and Orc warrior Mozgog to its roster, as seen in a new trailer released today. Eowyn specializes as a defender, and will heal her allies at the expense of her own health. Mozgog is a tank in the complete sense of the word, running down enemies with his "Berserker Rage" ability and dealing damage over a wide area. Guardians of Middle-earth will be available on PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade on Dec. 4.

Guardians of Middle-Earth coming December 4th, Season Pass available

Lord of the Rings-based multiplayer online battle arena Guardians of Middle-Earth will be released digitally and at retail on December 4th, developer Monolith Productions announced today. Guardians will be available for $14.99 on PlayStation Network and for 1200 Microsoft Points on Xbox Live Arcade. Retail copies will cost $29.99 and include Season Passes for access to post-launch downloadable content.
