LittleBigPlanet Karting's Cross-Compatibility Pack DLC is available today for free and allows players to use DLC costumes from LittleBigPlanet 2 and LittleBigPlanet PS Vita in the kart racer, according to a post on the official PlayStation Blog. All costumes purchased the future will also be available across the range of LittleBigPlanet titles. Only a few costumes — notably those from Assassin's Creed — are incompatible with the update, according to an FAQ on the LittleBigPlanet website. When it is allowed to be, LittleBigPlanet Karting is actually a pretty competent racer. It has the components you'd expect: tons of drifting, speed boosts (powered by the aforementioned drifting), not-so-random weapon drops which become more potent as you fall back from first place, and so on. There are environmental oddities to mix up the action a bit — the most exotic of which being humongous jumps and pre-determined grappling hook swings — but for the most part, becoming competent with the mechanics won't take too long. The combat mechanics of ModNation Racers (United Front's last, UGC-driven racer) have been streamlined somewhat in LittleBigPlanet Karting. Weapons no longer charge through several ranks of increasing potency, and defending against attacks no longer...

Here's a quick summary of the console titles coming out next week in Japan, courtesy of the review pages of Famitsu magazine. It's a slow post-holiday week, but there's one hotly-anticipated title on offer, at least: - DmC: Devil May Cry (8/9/8/9, 34 points out of 40): The Ninja Theory-developed reboot of Capcom's stylish action series did pretty well over in Famitsu, although not outstandingly. "The game's core fun of using guns and swords and such to mow down foes is still there," wrote editor Ranbu Yoshida. "The wild side of the Dante you see here really looms large, giving him a cool edge. Once you get used to the controls, which use the L and R buttons for different things, you'll be able to launch a wide variety of combos and expand your attacks." "This looks like a completely...

Owners of LittleBigPlanet PS Vita have their own holiday levels to check out, as curated by that game's community here. And LittleBigPlanet Karting players can check...
