Madden NFL 13 demonstrates that communication is key in any team sport. Whether between players and other players or between players and their coaches, its absence causes confusion and failure can follow. Madden 13's discrete parts — gameplay, career mode, online, and Ultimate Team — all surpass their previous incarnations. Developer EA Tiburon ties those elements together with a presentation focused on delivering an authentic NFL experience through the filter of a television broadcast. But Tiburon often sacrifices clarity and choice in favor of that unified vision: Madden 13's components communicate far more with each other than they do with users. FIFA 14 not coming to Wii U because of predecessor's disappointing 'commercial results'

FIFA 14, this year's installment of Electronic Arts' soccer franchise, will not be released for Wii U because sales of FIFA 13 were "disappointing," a representative from EA told Eurogamer. "Six months ago FIFA 13 was a launch title on Wii U," the representative said. "Although the game featured FIFA's award-winning HD gameplay and innovative new ways to play, the commercial results were disappointing. We have decided not to develop FIFA 14 on Wii U." EA published several games for Wii U after its launch last November, including FIFA 13 and Madden NFL 13. EA has 'no games in development for the Wii U,' spokesman says

Electronic Arts isn't currently developing any games for the Wii U, EA spokesperson Jeff Brown told Kotaku. EA published several games for Nintendo's console since its November 2012 launch, including FIFA 13, Madden NFL 13, Mass Effect 3: Special Edition and Need for Speed Most Wanted, but its studios have nothing in the pipeline right now. "We have no games in development for the Wii U currently," Brown said, but he didn't rule out future Wii U development, according to Kotaku. NCAA Football 14 will include offline Kinect commands

The Xbox 360 version of NCAA Football 14, the upcoming installment in EA Tiburon's college football franchise, will include Kinect commands in offline modes, a representative from EA told Polygon. EA informed Joystiq this morning that the game would have Kinect functionality similar to its implementation in the Madden series. Polygon reached out to EA and received a statement confirming the Kinect commands. "Functionality will be similar to what we did in Madden NFL 13 last year, and will focus on pre-play voice commands for things like audibles, hurry-up offense, etc.," the representative said. Virgin Gaming launches Xbox Tournaments app on Xbox Live with $100K tournament

Competitive gaming company Virgin Gaming launched an Xbox Tournaments app on Xbox Live today, with plans to bring sports-based competitive gaming to Xbox 360 owners. The free app allows players to check out Virgin Gaming's Xbox Live tournaments, enter them, play in them and track their progress on the leaderboards. The EA Sports Challenge Series has the potential to pull in spectators because it's an eSports tournament featuring sports games, said Virgin Gaming executive vice president Wim Stocks in an interview with Forbes. Virgin Gaming held the second annual Challenge Series in Las Vegas earlier this month; players competed for a $1 million prize pool in the PlayStation 3 versions of Madden NFL 13, FIFA 13 and NHL 13. Electronic Arts' annual Madden NFL simulation of the Super Bowl was right once again this year: Madden NFL 13's forecast of a Baltimore Ravens victory over the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl XLVII turned out to be correct. The football franchise has now correctly predicted the winner of eight out of the last 10 Super Bowls. In Madden NFL 13's simulation, the Ravens upset the 49ers — who were favored by four points — with a three-point victory, 27-24. In Electronic Arts' annual Madden NFL Super Bowl simulation, Madden NFL 13 has predicted that the Baltimore Ravens will defeat the San Francisco 49ers 27-24 in Super Bowl XLVII, the publisher announced today. Madden NFL 13 title update offers big rewards for Ultimate Team collectors

The fourth patch for Madden NFL 13 is set to go live tomorrow, Nov. 29, with new features for the Ultimate Team mode and some bug fixes, reports Joystiq. Ultimate Team players will now be able to create five different lineups from their card collection. They'll also enjoy improved, "more nuanced" roster management, according to developer EA Tiburon. Player sorting by position will be more granular, while a new screen will offer an at-a-glance look at players' active boosts. In addition, Ultimate Team will now offer quick collections, which provide bonuses for completing card collections, and the option to play games with two-minute quarters. Dell selling Wii U hardware and software

The Wii U and a select few games are now available for pre-order from Dell. Dell's video game section already offers every other modern console and handheld: PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, PlayStation Vita and Nintendo 3DS. Dell isn't selling the cheaper Basic Set; just the Deluxe Set. However, it cannot be purchased alone; it is only available in a $459.99 bundle with Madden NFL 13 and Just Dance 4. And there's no guarantee that pre-ordering the bundle means you'll get it on launch day or shortly afterward — according to Dell, it "usually ships" in one to two weeks.
