MLB 2K12 whistleblower wins $25,000 in 2K13 tournament

Scott Young, one of 30 winners of this year's MLB 2K13 Perfect Game Challenge, is also the player who brought attention last year to an exploit that has since been removed from the revamped tournament, Kotaku reports. Last year, Young came in 10th place in the $1 Million Perfect Game Challenge. Young told Kotaku last year that another contestant, William Haff, substituted the opposing team's best hitters to secure his place in last year's tournament. Pitching for the Chicago White Sox this year, Young threw a perfect game and earned a score of 781 and a real-life award of $25,000. Haff also won $25,000 this year, throwing the highest scored perfect game for the Cincinnati Reds. To secure his place in the tournament, which began April 1 with rule changes and focused on the best...

NBA 2K13/MLB 2K13 Combo Pack launching March 5 for $79.99 on Xbox 360, PS3

NBA 2K13 and the upcoming MLB 2K13 will be bundled into a $79.99 "Combo Pack" that launches March 5 on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, publisher Take-Two Interactive announced today. They are the two remaining sports games released annually under the 2K Sports label. MLB 2K13, which also launches March 5 on Xbox 360 and PS3, will be available for $59.99, so the Combo Pack gives 2K Sports fans two full games at a $40 discount. 2K Sports did the same thing last year, with an MLB 2K12/NBA 2K12 Combo Pack. That package was available only on Xbox 360, and sold for $69.99. The $10 price increase this time around can be attributed to NBA 2K13, which still sells for its full retail price, $59.99; by the time 2K Sports announced the 2012 Combo Pack a year ago, the price of NBA 2K12 had dropped to...

MLB 2K13 Perfect Game Challenge rules change, now awards best pitchers for each team

MLB 2K13's Perfect Game Challenge, the latest in an annual series of contests which award players who can complete a game without letting a single player on base, will experience a format change this year. As detailed in the video above, whoever pitches the best game while playing as each of Major League Baseball's 30 teams will take home a prize of $25,000 each. The top four players for the entire league will be brought to the MLB All-Star Week held in New York this July, where they'll compete for a grand prize of $250,000, for a total pool of $1 million up for grabs overall. The competition starts April 1, the baseball season's opening day. MLB 2K13 launches on Xbox 360 and PS3 March 5, giving players roughly a month to get their pitching arm ready.

MLB 2K13 announced, launching March 5 on Xbox 360 and PS3

Major League Baseball 2K13, the next entry in 2K Sports' MLB 2K franchise, exists and will be available March 5 on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, 2K Sports announced today. Tampa Bay Rays ace David Price, winner of the 2012 American League Cy Young Award as the league's best pitcher, will appear on the game's cover. And 2K Sports will hold its fourth annual Perfect Game Challenge, the MLB 2K contest that awards $1 million for throwing a perfect game in the video game, later this year. It's a surprising announcement for a number of reasons. 2K Sports' parent company, Take-Two, did not appear to have an interest in renewing its agreement with Major League Baseball, through which it held exclusive third-party rights to publish licensed baseball games. The deal, which was inked in 2005 and...
