The cast of BioWare's Mass Effect series is a beloved bunch, and EA is giving fans the chance to take one last spin with the old crew with Citadel, the final piece of DLC for last year's Mass Effect 3. This recently-released launch trailer sets up the scenario: In the middle of the Reaper War, Commander Shepard's superiors offer him (or her) a chance to relax and unwind in order to be at peak performance when needed. However, an assassination attempt on Shepard by a mysterious group means that much of Shepard's vacation will be spent ducking bullets. As BioWare's send-off to the Mass Effect trilogy, Citadel features appearances by both the Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 casts, absent a handful of characters who were killed in Mass Effect 3 prior to the time frame of Citadel. Mass...

BioWare released a trailer today for its Mass Effect 3 multiplayer expansion, Reckoning. The minute-long trailer introduces the new found allies of Mass Effect 3 and shows The Geth Juggernaut, Cabal Vanguard, Talon Mercenary, Alliance Infiltration Unit and more joining forces to stop the Reaper threat. In a BioWare live stream broadcast earlier today, the developers ran through some of the characters, weapons and equipment that players can expect to see in the Reckoning expansion pack. The Spike Video Game Awards aired little more than a week ago on Dec. 7 with almost 30 different accolades handed out to titles both big and small. Like most award shows, the night was full of acceptance speeches from developers, composers, actors, and in some cases, game characters themselves. Borderlands 2's Claptrap took home the award for Character of the Year, but Spike has released the unaired acceptance speeches for the other four nominees. Check out the speech from Mass Effect's Commander Shepard above, and don't forget to watch Raul Menendez from Call of Duty: Black Ops, Halo 4's Master Chief and Connor of Assassin's Creed 3 fame below. You can see the full list of VGA winners here.

Gamer Alain Poitras has accomplished a Mass Effect 3 feat that would be impressive for a player merely tackling the challenge solo. That Poitras completed a silver level challenge in the game's multiplayer mode using his mouth is far more impressive. Poitras, a quadriplegic who broke his neck in a fall 17 years ago, says he plays Mass Effect 3 using a stick to tap a keyboard and touchpad mouse. He's uploaded videos of himself playing Mass Effect 3 multiplayer on a laptop with his unique set up, sharing his latest accomplishment with the community via the BioWare forums. Despite his achievement, Poitras laments that he "missed the extraction by 1 or 2 seconds" in the gameplay video posted to YouTube. "My shields were down and I was focusing on my walking because if I had tried to...

Mass Effect 3 Special Edition, the version of the game launching alongside the Wii U, includes unique controls that take advantage of the GamePad controller, as seen in a trailer released today. One example in the trailer is the ability to arrange party members across the battlefield on the GamePad's touchscreen. Mass Effect 3 Special Edition, ported to the Wii U by Australian studio Straight Right in conjunction with BioWare, will arrive in stores on Nov. 13, in advance of the North American launch of the Wii U on Nov. 18.

Mass Effect fans hungry for even more story to complement Mass Effect 3 can preview nine minutes of the upcoming anime prequel, Mass Effect: Paragon Lost, thanks to Funimation.
