Rockstar Games is releasing Max Payne 3 almost nine years after Max Payne 2: that was a year before Halo 2, and Half-Life 2; three years before Gears of War; six years before Uncharted 2. Red Dead Redemption and GTA 4 will be affected by GameSpy server shutdown

Rockstar titles Red Dead Redemption, Grand Theft Auto 4 and Max Payne 3 will be affected by the GameSpy server shutdown on May 31; However, the publisher is working to transition the online systems for these games as a result. While core online gameplay for these three games will be saved, some features will still be lost. This includes both Red Dead Redemption and Grand Theft Auto 4's Social Club stat tracking, leaderboards and in-game Social Club services. Amazon kicks off Black Friday deals early for games, consoles

Amazon has already begun its "countdown to Black Friday deals week" for video games and everything else, including discounts on a wide variety of games, consoles and accessories. Digital versions of a bunch of older titles from the Rockstar Games catalog, including Grand Theft Auto 4 and Bully, are currently on sale at Newegg for upwards of 70 percent off. Take-Two quarterly revenue drops 37%, still 'better than expected'

Publisher Take-Two Interactive reported "better-than-expected" results for the first quarter of its 2014 fiscal year today, and although the company lost money in the quarter, it expects very positive results for the second quarter and full year. Take-Two's revenues for the quarter ending June 30, 2013, totaled $142.7 million, a 36.9 percent year-over-year decline that was expected because last year, the first quarter of the company's 2013 fiscal year contained two major releases in Max Payne 3 and Spec Ops: The Line. The company recorded a first-quarter 2014 net loss of $61.9 million, an improvement on the $110.8 million loss it reported one year ago. Dokuro free on PS Plus, Max Payne 3 discounted

PlayStation Vita exclusive Dokuro joined the PlayStation Plus' Instant Game Collection today, which means those with PlayStation Plus memberships can now download the game for free. In addition, PixelJunk Monsters: Ultimate HD, which launches this week and is also a PS Vita-exclusive, is being discounted for PS Plus members. The regular price is $14.99 — PS Plus members will be able to pick it up for $11.99. On the home console side, Max Payne 3 for PlayStation 3 is being heavily discounted from $39.99 to $9.99 — PS Plus members get an additional discount, bringing the price down to $7.99. On August 6, Battlefield 3 will leave the Instant Game Collection, and discounts on Thomas Was Alone: Benjamin's Fight and Ibb and Obb Preorder will end.


Max Payne 3 graphic novel collection coming Oct. 22

Max Payne 3: The Complete Series, a hardbound collection of comics based on Rockstar Games' gritty shooter series, will be available Oct. 22 from Titan Books. The $9.99 print version of the comics that are available free online spans the story of the series, "from his troubled childhood, to his successes as a young police cadet, to the brutal murder of his wife and child, to the death of his partner, to his ignominious dismissal from the NYPD, to the chance encounter in a Hoboken dive bar that propels him on an ill-fated journey to the streets of São Paulo," according to a post on Rockstar's website. Max Payne 3 for Mac releases June 20

A year after its initial launch, Max Payne 3 is being released for Mac later this week. Publisher Rockstar announced today that the game would be available on the Mac App Store on June 20. Max Payne 3 launched for Windows, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in May last year, with a review score of 9 on Polygon. Reviewer Arthur Gies called it an "uncompromising vision that has delivered something truly impressive". Rockstar also released required specs for the game - Mac OS X 10.7.5 Lion; Intel Dual Core Xeon / Core i Series 2.4 GHZ or greater; 4GB System RAM; Nvidia 8800GT 512MB VRAM or AMD Radeon HD 4870 512 VRAM; HDD Space of 35GB. Max Payne 3 is a noir shooter featuring a complex protagonist exploring the Brazilian underworld in search of a kidnap victim.


Germinator and Pinball Arcade come to PS Plus Instant Game Collection May 21

Two new games will join the PlayStation Plus Instant Game Collection next week, according to the PlayStation Blog: Germinator (PS Vita) and Pinball Arcade (PS3 and PS Vita, Cross-Buy enabled). On May 21, PlayStation Plus members will be able to pick up both Germinator and Pinball Arcade for free, while non-members can buy them individually for $9.99 on the PlayStation Network. As of tomorrow, the Metro: Last Light Season Pass (PS3), which is a discounted pre-payment for future Metro DLC that includes The Faction Pack, The Tower Pack, The Developer Pack and The Chronicles Pack, will also receive a 25 percent discount for PS Plus members, bringing it down to $11.24 from the regular PSN price of $14.99.
