Murdered: Soul Suspect is a 'Die Hard'-inspired ghostly detective story

What would happen if John McClane died in the middle of Die Hard? And then became a ghostly spirit of vengeance? How would he continue to fight? How could he stop Hans Gruber and his team of terrorists from blowing up Nakatomi Plaza as a disembodied phantom? These are the questions that led Square Enix creative director Yosuke Shiokawa (Dissidia Final Fantasy, Death By Cube) to conceive of Murdered: Soul Suspect, a paranormal mystery adventure game in development at Airtight Games, developer of Dark Void and Quantum Conundrum. Shiokawa envisioned that McClane would continue to fight his enemies, to behave as he would if he were still alive, according to Airtight Games senior producer Eric Studer. He says the game's creative director is working with the studio and its team of in-house...

Murdered: Soul Suspect trailer sets up a macabre murder mystery

Murdered: Soul Suspect tells the story of detective Rowan O'Connor and his search from the afterlife for the hooded man who killed him, as seen in a new trailer released today by publisher Square Enix. Described as a detective who got his hands dirty and perhaps crossed a few lines in the process, O'Connor is in a fistfight with an unknown suspect in the top floor of a house. In a dreamlike sequence, he finds himself at street level approaching a body in the street, with the hooded figure crouched over it — only to discover that the body is his own, and that the other man pushed him out the house's window. O'Connor makes that discovery when he touches his killer on the shoulder and has a flashback to his own murder. In Murdered: Soul Suspect, which takes place in the famous...

Murdered: Soul Suspect teaser trailer shows 'the hardest murder to solve' (update: coming in early 2014)

The first teaser trailer for Murdered: Soul Suspect brings a taste of the supernatural to the upcoming title, hinting that its characters and world may not be exactly what they seem. A gritty voice narrates as a man dressed plunges through a shower of shattered glass, fumbling for his firearm while facing a mysterious hooded figure. The trailer moves between the falling man and the bustling streets of a large city — where we watch another person walk clear through our man. The title, a new IP from Square Enix, was unveiled earlier this month through a series of teaser images. One image included text asking, "What is the hardest murder to solve?" Watch the trailer above for the answer. Murdered: Soul Suspect is slated for release on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Windows PC. A release...
