EA Sports playoff simulation picks New York Rangers as 2013 Stanley Cup champions

The New York Rangers will win Lord Stanley's Cup this year, according to the simulation of the 2013 NHL playoffs that publisher Electronic Arts conducted in the engine for its NHL series, the company announced today. As the sixth-ranked team in the Eastern Conference, the Rangers played the role of underdog in each of its playoff series. It took them seven games to get past the Washington Capitals (no. 3 seed) in the first round, and another seven to best the top-ranked Pittsburgh Penguins in the conference semifinals. But they swept a fellow Original Six team, the Montreal Canadiens (no. 2 seed), to get to the Stanley Cup Finals. Xbox Live deal offers $10 off Madden 13, FIFA 13, NHL 13, NCAA Football 13

This week's Xbox Live deal consists of a $10 discount on four 2012 EA Sports titles: Madden NFL 13, FIFA 13, NHL 13 and NCAA Football 13. The offer is available only to Xbox Live Gold members and applies to the Games on Demand versions of the games in question. They regularly cost $59.99, and are available for $49.99 this week. Much better deals on the games in question were being offered during the holiday shopping season. Microsoft's upcoming deals on Xbox Live Marketplace content feature the city-building simulator Tropico 4 and its add-ons, as well as the Serious Sam games, Major Nelson announced today. NHL 13 update duplicates players for the European leagues

EA Sports released an update this week for NHL 13 that adds a duplicate version of NHL players from European leagues to their current team. The following leagues will have their players duplicated into their current teams: Czech Extraliga (ELH), SM-Liiga, Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL), Elitserien (SEL) and National League A (NLA). This means a player like Claude Giroux, who plays for the Philadelphia Flyers in North America, will also be available on the European Eisbaren Berlin (DEL) roster. EA Sports said on its website that by adding NHL players who have joined European leagues to their respective team rosters, the company is "able to create an authentic experience for fans of those leagues and the NHL, worldwide."
