Team Ninja intensified Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Plus's violence to be on-par with Razor's Edge

Developer Team Ninja strove to make Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Plus for PlayStation Vita as gory as Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge on Wii U, according to a recent interview with studio head Yosuke Hayashi on the PlayStation Blog. In response to a question regarding the original PlayStation 3 Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2's purple smoke-bleeding enemies and the quick disappearance of severed limbs, and whether the Vita version would include more gore, Hayashi said the goal of the Sigma 2 Plus was to intensify the violence. "'More speed, more beauty, more blood' is the concept for the game, and with the PS Vita version having a more compact screen, we enhanced the violence level making it closer to Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge's impressions to make sure the attacking effects and feel can be seen and...

The new lower "Hero" difficulty will make Ryu automatically guard against attacks if the player begins to struggle in battle. Additional game modes have also been added. In Ninja Race, Ryu can snag special items as he runs through levels for a speed boost, and attack power bonuses are piled on on as rewards for chaining enemy kills. Tag Mission mode lets players switch between Ryu, Ayane, Momiji and Rachel as they complete its missions. Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Plus is coming to PlayStation Vita on Feb. 28 for ¥6,090 (about $74). The port will be...
