Persona 4 Arena review: awakened potential

The logic of borrowing characters from an RPG to use in a fighting game is a bit opaque, but at least the Persona universe is suited to this genre change-up. E3 2014: What we probably (and definitely) won't see this week

The past month or so has been rife with announcements that certain games and companies will not have a presence at E3 this year. From highly-anticipated titles announced almost eight years ago to high-level executives sitting it out to take it easy, here's what you probably won't, and definitely won't, see at E3. Absence confirmed Final Fantasy 15 and Kingdom Hearts 3: These two Square Enix role-playing games are earning mystical unicorn status by virtue of being announced too early and then failing to appear at E3 year after year. We got some information at last year's expo, where Square announced both would come to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. But earlier this week, producer Shinji Hashimoto told Famitsu that neither game would have a presence at E3 and more details on both games...

The next DLC character in Persona 4 Arena Ultimax is rookie detective Tohru Adachi, according to this week's issue of Famitsu magazine via Gematsu. Ultimax will also include a Golden Arena Mode, which includes character progression elements familiar to role-playing games. Players will use the arena to level up — here they can earn extra experience points and items and learn new abilities by fighting through various stages. The game itself includes 150 different skills for players to unlock. Earlier this week, developers Arc System Works and Atlus...

It is unclear whether Minazuki is your ally or enemy. Current speculation is that Minazuki is involved in the unannounced Persona 5, which Atlus confirmed was in development as of August 2012. The plot of Suplex Hold picks up a few days after the ending of Persona 4 Arena. A new tournament appears on Mayonaka TV, the P-1 Climax....
