Tickets are now available for SOE Live 2013, Sony Online Entertainment's annual community fan event, according to a press release from the company. Tickets for the event, which will be held at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas from Aug. 1-4, are available through the SOE Live website. Early registration is available through May 22, offering discounted tickets at $39 (regularly $49) for Friday and Saturday passes, $99 for an evening pass and $129 (regularly $149) for an all-access pass. According to Sony, rooms are available for $79 on weeknights and $129 on weekends. Games on hand will include DC Universe Online, Dragon's Prophet, EverQuest, EverQuest 2, Free Realms, PlanetSide 2, PoxNora, Star Wars: Clone Wars Adventures, Legends of Norrath and Vanguard: Saga of Heroes....

PlanetSide 2 players can now get more information on the game and their progress in it with PlanetSide 2 Mobile Uplink, an app that is now available on iOS and Android, publisher Sony Online Entertainment announced today. Mobile Uplink serves as a compendium of information on PlanetSide 2's weapons, vehicles and classes. Players can also keep track of their character, perusing statistics, rank details and leaderboards. The app also provides near-real-time updates on territory control on the in-game world map, along with community-created content like video clips. PlanetSide 2 Mobile Uplink is available free on iOS and Android.

PlanetSide 2's update 4 is now live and introduces several features based on player feedback, including a virtual reality training area and seating upgrade to the Flash vehicle. Update 4 was announced March 1. The game's new virtual reality training area includes weapons, vehicles and attachments for players try out in different combat simulations. Players who use the Flash as a vehicle can now seat two players. The Flash also includes a Wraith cloaking module and S12 renegade shotgun. PlanetSide 2 players in Europe are being told to change their passwords after European publisher ProSiebenSat.1 Games announced on the PlanetSide 2 EU forums that their system was hacked. The post, written by a community manager, reads: Dear Community, We have ascertained that there was recently unauthorized third-party access to one of our systems. The possibility that your data (Email address and password) has been accessed by an unauthorized third party cannot be excluded. We were able to detect the problem promptly and took all necessary action to rectify the issue. Your account data is encrypted with us for your security. Sony President John Smedley took to Reddit to clarify some misconceptions about PlanetSide 2's banning and suspension policies after the recent spate of bans. He wrote that the company is diligent when it comes to cheating accusations on its free-to-play MMO. If a player is accused by another player of being an aimbot โ a auto-aim program to assist players โ an investigation is launched to confirm if the accusation is founded. What may seem like an aimbotter to a player could be just a very good player, Smedley pointed out. "Telling the difference can be tough for our players sometimes but it's not for us. The virtual ballet box is open for the Game Developers Choice Audience Award and accepting nominations today through 5 p.m. ET March 1, according to the official website. Sony Online Entertainment's annual community fan event, SOE Live 2013, will take place at Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas on Aug. 1 to Aug. 4, 2013, the company announced today. Attendees will have the opportunity to check out EverQuest Next, the upcoming title in the EverQuest franchise. A new update for Sony Online Entertainment's PlanetSide 2 kicked in over the weekend, implementing changes to the game's infantry, vehicles, items and UI. Some of the updates to infantry include increased precision when spotting enemies that are more than 30 meters away, the addition of a short invulnerability to newly spawned players, and a slew of tweaks, tunes and fixes to weapons like VS pistols, all shotguns, the TX2 Emperor and the Jackhammer. Vehicles are also getting tweaks and fixes, such as the Rotary Cannons, which received an additional 10 rounds to the magazine for each rotary, projectile speeds have been decreased slightly to help further define their role as a close-range weapon, and the fire rate on the Reaver M20 Mustang being increased. PlanetSide 2 developer Sony Online Entertainment and Major League Gaming have joined forces to bring SOE's free-to-play shooter to the eSports arena, according to a joint press release. Competitors in the massively multiplayer online first-person shooter will match up using MLG's GameBattles system, which offers services like tournaments, leagues and forums to its 8 million members, according to MLG's website. PlanetSide 2 will also appear at MLG's Winter Championship in Dallas from March 15 to 17. Sony Online Entertainment issued a round to bans yesterday to players using aimbots in Planetside 2, the company's free-to-play massively multiplayer first person shooter, according to a series of tweets from Sony president John Smedley. "Our CS guys are banning the crap out of a whole bunch of idiots," Smedley wrote. According to Smedley, among the banned were two players who had racked up 300 hours each of game time and an individual who spend $230 on additional in-game armor and goods.
