Pokemon X and Y developer roundtable to be hosted by Nintendo at E3

A Pokemon X and Y developer roundtable will be hosted by Nintendo at E3 2013, where representatives from Game Freak and The Pokemon Company will share details about the series' next generation, Nintendo announced today. The event will be held the evening of Tuesday, June 11 — a few hours after the company's E3 Nintendo Direct presentation, which it will hold in lieu of a proper E3 press conference. Nintendo is known for hosting developer roundtables at E3 annually, though rarely do they focus on a single game like this. Panelists include president and CEO of The Pokemon Company Tsunekazu Ishihara and Game Freak director Junichi Masuda. Unfortunately, the event will not be streaming, but we'll be on hand to share any announcements that come out of the roundtable. For more on Pokemon...

A new issue of CoroCoro Comic features details on four new Pokémon and Karos, the region Pokémon X and Y will take place in, Gematsu reports. Pokemon X and Y isn't a reboot of the franchise, Pokemon Company exec says

Despite its obviously overhauled visual presentation and new release platform, fans shouldn't call the recently announced Pokemon X and Y a "reboot," according to Pokemon Company International director of consumer marketing J.C. Smith. Though that terminology might seem applicable based on the debut trailer we saw yesterday — which depicted a fully three-dimensional world with dynamic, spriteless battle scenes — it's not what developer Game Freak was aiming for, Smith told Polygon. "There's never been a conscious decision to reboot," Smith said. "There's always been an evolution of the look and feel; it just happens to be that we played Black and White, and Heart Gold and Soul Silver, and Diamond and Pearl, and Platinum — all of those games on the same platform. So it feels like...

The game will make use of the Nintendo's 3DS's features and will release in North America, Europe, Australia and Japan "around the same time," Iwata said. Pokémon X and Pokémon Y will feature three starter Pokémon: Froakie, Fennekin and Chespin. Pikachu appeared briefly in the trailer for the games among the new Pokémon introduced. The games will allow players to play with each other and connect globally. With previous Pokémon games releasing years apart in Japan and North America, Iwata emphasized that this will be the first Pokémon series that will receive a similar release...
