Poker Night 2 review: On the table

Telltale's second shot at a comedy-driven poker game comes with a table full of characters from popular franchises, including Sam and Max, Portal, The Evil Dead, The Venture Brothers and Borderlands. But it takes more than a few pretty — or funny — faces to liven up core gameplay that's seen countless video game iterations. Poker Night 2 features dialogue and animation true to the flavor of its characters, and an expansive set of collectibles that carry over into other games. But its vibrant personalities fail to offer much shelf life beyond a comparatively bare game of poker. PS Plus: Poker Night 2 free, new Ultimate Editions, Capcom sale

Telltale Games' video game character-infused Poker Night 2 will be free to PlayStation Plus members starting Oct. 15, according to a post on the PlayStation Blog today. Shadow of the Colossus goes free on PS Plus tomorrow

The high-definition upscaled version of Shadow of the Colossus will become free to PlayStation Plus subscribers in North America as of tomorrow, Oct. 8, publisher Sony Computer Entertainment announced today. It is the second PS Plus game of the month, following Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. Other games scheduled to join the Instant Game Collection in October include Hotline Miami and Poker Night 2. In addition, Saints Row: The Third will leave the Instant Game Collection on Oct. 15. Poker Night 2 goes mobile, available now on iOS

Poker Night 2, Telltale Games' poker simulator starring a cast of characters from video games and cartoons, is now available on iOS, according to the developer. The mobile version, which Telltale teased in April on Twitter, retails for $4.99 in the iOS App Store. It includes the same card players as the Windows PC, Mac, Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network versions that are also available. Those include characters from Sam and Max, Claptrap from the Borderlands series, Ash from Evil Dead and Brock Samson from The Venture Bros. GLaDOS from the Portal series remains the dealer. GLaDOS deals the cards in Poker Night 2 launch trailer

A new trailer celebrating the launch of Telltale's crossover card-shark title Poker Night 2 hit today featuring GLaDOS and the rest of the game's cast. The trailer gives a quick introduction to the characters: Venture Bros. bodyguard Brock Samson, Borderlands mascot Claptrap, Evil Dead zombie slayer Ash, and freelance policeman Max of Sam & Max fame. The dealer is Portal's iconic nemesis GLaDOS, who is the second Valve character to appear in the series after Team Fortress 2's Heavy. Poker Night 2 launching this month on XBLA, PSN, PC and Mac, also coming to iOS

Poker Night 2 will be released on Windows PC and Mac via Steam, Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network within the next week, and will eventually come to iOS, developer Telltale Games announced yesterday. It will be available first on XBLA, where it will be released April 24 worldwide for 800 Microsoft Points ($10). The Steam version, which supports Steam Play across PC and Mac, will launch April 26 worldwide; it's currently available for pre-order for $4.99, and includes a free copy of Poker Night at the Inventory. Telltale Games' Poker Night 2 is replete with unlockable goods, both within the game itself and for games like Gearbox Software's Borderlands 2 and Valve's Team Fortress 2. Poker Night 2 is available for pre-purchase on Steam for $4.99, and pre-order customers will receive a free, giftable copy of the previous game, Poker Night at the Inventory. Telltale Games' Poker Night 2 headed to Xbox 360, PS3, PC and Mac in April

Poker Night 2, a sequel to Telltale Games' original high-stakes poker game, is headed to Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Windows PC and Mac via Steam in "late April," according to Telltale's official press release.
