DualShock 4 buyers test old games to create compatibility list

With DualShock 4 controllers now appearing on retail shelves, gamers are getting to grips with figuring out which PlayStation 3 games work with the new controller. A Reddit thread has been opened to handle the issue, offering an initial list of games. Users are being invited to add to the list. "I just got my DualShock 4 today, and have noticed some games work, and some don't," wrote thread organizer Lapwner. "So, let's try to create a list so people can see which games work and which games don't. Note that the motion sensing does not work, so even though some games work with the controller, if they are reliant on the motion sensing, then they probably aren't worth playing it with." The current list of compatible games includes: Working Call of Duty (MW2, MW3, Black Ops, Black Ops...

Video Games Live leaves behind yesteryear's bleeps and bloops

Then there was a full orchestra and choir, conducted by composer Austin Wintory, filling the San Diego Civic Auditorium with Journey's ineffable loveliness. And Eimear Noone, bringing Diablo 3's clanging, underworldly strangeness to this forum of capital C Culture. Video Games Live on Saturday night was another Tommy Tallarico-hosted celebration of game culture, through its music. The noise wasn't just coming from the orchestra and choir, but also from the audience, who are always happy to contribute to the spectacle, cheering, singing, shouting, all broadcast live on the internet via Twitch. "I find it quite wonderful," said Wintory, who was nominated for a Grammy for his score. "I make music for other people. I like working on games because of how much they mean to people. And an...

Red Dead Redemption fan film lanching this month

A group of gaming fans are working to deliver a new short film influenced by Rockstar's Red Dead Redemption. Unlike the recently released short film by filmmaker Brett Driver, production company Silk Dog Films will focus squarely on the Rockstar game while combining it with a spaghetti western-meets-grindhouse style. Driver's film on the other hand pit Marston against Metal Gear's Revolver Ocelot. You can check out that video here. According to its official trailer, Silk Dog Films will release the film in its entirety later this month when it will be uploaded in full to YouTube.
