Rock Band Blitz review: feedback loop

Even on its surface, Rock Band Blitz represents an experiment. The idea is genius, when you think about it: create a comparatively cheap, arcade game framework for users to experience years of Rock Band content in a new way. Throw in 25 new songs for 15 bucks, and the ability to use any piece of Rock Band content compatible with Rock Band 3 - and make Rock Band Blitz's library of new content compatible with Rock Band 3 - and for some people, Rock Band Blitz will be a value proposition too good to pass up. But for everyone else, there's a game in Rock Band Blitz, and thankfully, developer Harmonix hasn't taken an easy sell as an excuse to phone in something forgettable. Rock Band Music Store adding playable tracks from The Flys, Queensrÿche and Staind

Tracks by '90s post-grunge group The Flys, '80s heavy metal band Queensrÿche and rock group Staind have been added to the Rock Band Music Store, Harmonix announced today. Songs from Living Colour, Quiet Riot, Soundgarden, Kelly Clarkson coming to Rock Band 3

Next week's Rock Band 3 DLC drop consists of four songs, one each from Living Colour, Quiet Riot, Soundgarden and Kelly Clarkson, Harmonix announced today. Living Colour's "Cult of Personality," which also appeared in Guitar Hero 3 and Rock Band Blitz, will bring its unforgettable riff to the Rock Band DLC library next week. Quiet Riot's anthemic "Bang Your Head (Metal Health)" will also be available, along with Soundgarden's '90s hit "Spoonman" and Kelly Clarkson's fist-pumping pop tune "Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)." Rock Band store expands with 'Jessie's Girl' and Rick Springfield track pack

No more wishing that the Rock Band Music Store had "Jessie's Girl," as a press release from Harmonix announced today that three Rick Springfield tracks are coming Jan. 15. Rock Band Store gets tracks from Maroon 5, Foo Fighters and Foster the People on Jan. 8

Rock Band 3 gets new tracks for the New Year featuring Fun, Hot Chelle Rae and Pink

Harmonix is adding more tracks to the Rock Bad Music Store, including single from hard rock musician Andrew W.K., pop rock band Hot Chelle Rae, American indie rock trio Fun and pop singer Pink, the developer announced today. The new tracks will be available for Xbox 360 on Dec. 30 for 160 Microsoft Points ($2) each, for Wii on Jan. 2 for 200 Wii Points each, and for PlayStation 3 on Jan. 8 for $1.99 each. Carly Rae Jepsen's 'Call Me Maybe' joins Rock Band song catalog, Rock Band Blitz half-price on XBLA

Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe," perhaps the song of the year, will become available on the Rock Band Music Store on Nov. 27, developer Harmonix announced today. "Call Me Maybe" will be joined by Marcy Playground's 1997 hit, "Sex and Candy." Each track will be sold for $1.99 on PlayStation 3, 160 Microsoft Points on Xbox 360 and $2.00 on Wii. The former includes Rock Band 3 keyboard support, while the latter offers a Pro Guitar/Bass upgrade for an extra dollar. In addition, Rock Band Blitz is being offered at half price — 600 Microsoft Points ($7.50) instead of 1200 ($15) — from now through Nov. 26, as part of Microsoft's Thanksgiving weekend deals on Xbox Live Arcade. Yesterday marked the Rock Band franchise's fifth anniversary.
