A new mod in development for real-time strategy PC title Sins of a Solar Empire transforms the entire game into a Mass Effect series entry, called Mass Effect: Dawn of the Reapers. Modding group Cerberus Skunkworks' Dawn of the Reapers is massive, not only adding environment and character skins as well as Mass Effect technology and vehicle units, but also tweaking the game's UI to create an authentic Mass Effect experience. Players can choose to play as a Council race or their enemies and have access to new weapons crafted specifically for both sides. "The reapers have returned from dark space," reads the game's summary. Rebellion suing Stardock for trademark infringement
By Tracey Lien on Aug 16, 2012 08.16.12
Sniper Elite and Alien vs Predator developer Rebellion has filed a lawsuit against Stardock Entertainment and Ironclad Games over the release of Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion, which it claims violates the studio's trademark. Rebellion claims that the use of the word "Rebellion" in Sins of a Solar Empire's subtitle could be confusing for both the public and the press and it takes issue with the Stardock game being referred to as "Rebellion" in a number of promotion materials, reviews, and videos. The studio believes that the confusion creates "unfair competition" between Rebellion and the Sins of a Solar Empire developers. Stardock was revealed to have entered into its own legal battle this week against a former employee who it claims destroyed its marketing materials before...

The case is being brought against former Stardock marketing manager Alexandra Miseta, who was employed with the company from June 4th, 2007 to August 3rd, 2010 when she resigned without notice. Stardock claims that in her role as marketing manager, she was required to gather marketing data and perform web analytics, maintain information relating to all trade and marketing shows that Stardock attended or planned to attend, and produce the marketing materials and data for games developed by Stardock. All the analytics and data...
Stardock to ditch retail for upcoming games
By Tracey Lien on Jul 25, 2012 07.25.12
Independent developer Stardock is abandoning retail for its two upcoming games, giving them digital-only releases following the success of the digital-only Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion. Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion smashed Stardock's existing records to become the fastest-selling title in the company's history. It was also the first major Stardock game to bypass retailers and was instead released on Steam, GameStop's online shopfront, and direct from Stardock. The game sold more than 100,000 units in its first month, beating the retail sales during the same period of the original Sins of a Solar Empire. The success of Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion has led to the company releasing their next two games, The Political Machine 2012 and Elemental: Fallen Enchantress, via...
