Sound Shapes DLC brings art, albums and sounds today

Sound Shapes is receiving new downloadable content today that brings new art, levels and sounds to Queasy Games' musical platformer. According to a PlayStation Blog post by Sony Santa Monica senior producer Zach Wood, five new Milkcrate levels or "albums" will be available, some created by two unnamed "head honchos at Sony" and others by employees of Sony Santa Monica, who've worked on the God of War and PixelJunk series, The Unfinished Swan and Journey. Two new Sound Packs will also be available today: the Vocoder Sound Pack with its "electro funk synthetic voices" and the Old School Sound Pack with its "flute loops and jazz bass." Flow, Flower, Escape Plan, Sound Shapes coming to PS4 in Nov.

Sony is bringing four existing PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita titles — Flow, Flower, Escape Plan and Sound Shapes — to PlayStation 4 next month around the time of the console's launch, the company announced today. Flower developer thatgamecompany announced earlier this year that an outside developer would be porting the 2009 title to PS Vita. The game will be available on both PS Vita and PS4 on Nov. 15, making it a launch title for Sony's new console; it will be playable in 1080p at 60 frames per second. Sound Shapes dev marks 1st anniversary with sale, gift, contest

Tomorrow, Aug. 7, is the one-year anniversary of Sound Shapes' North American release, and developer Queasy Games is marking the occasion with a half-off sale, a gift and a contest, the studio announced today. The PlayStation 3/PlayStation Vita cross-buy title is on sale for $7.49, 50 percent off, from now through Aug. 13. In addition, all of the game's downloadable content is also half price during the sale, and avatars are free. Fans interested in more free content can post their Sound Shapes thoughts in this thread on the PlayStation forums in order to receive a free code via XMB message for the Car Mini-Album and Entity Pack. Sound Shapes received DLC and free updates today that bring new levels, vehicles, offline play and more to Queasy Games' rhythmic platformer. The $1.99 Car Pack includes two new vehicles that allow you to speed, loop, jump and flip through the 2D platformer's world. It will also contain new levels, a full Sound Pack, editor entries like loop-de-loops, speed boost, as well as Beat School lessons and trophies. Sound Shapes developer Queasy Games says 'happy holidays' with free Holiday Sound Pack

Just in time for the holidays, Sound Shapes developer Queasy Games is augmenting the musical platformer's sound bank today with the free Holiday Sound Pack, which contains five new instruments. The five sounds all come from classic Christmas carols, so players will be able to build levels that play holiday music. Sound Shapes is a community-driven experience, and the team at Queasy Games will check out created levels uploaded with #XMAS in the title. Sound Shapes launched in August on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita. It is available for $14.99 through PlayStation Network on either platform with Cross Buy support.

Musical platformer Sound Shapes gets three new sound packs today, expanding the game's rich composing tools with acoustic sounds, drum kits and chippy 8-bit bleeps and bloops. How Queasy Games made people want to compose music through Sound Shapes

The developers behind Sound Shapes — the PlayStation-exclusive side-scrolling platformer that merges music with platforming — reveal how they turned music by Beck into game levels in a new interview with The Creator's Project. In the interview, Jonathan Mak, the founder of Queasy Games, and musician Shaw-Han Liem, share their experience deconstructing Beck's music and creating game elements around it.
