Ubisoft discounts long list of games on PSN, Joe Danger 2 now free for PS Plus members

Ubisoft is discounting a long lineup of games on the PlayStation Network, taking 30 percent off select titles for all PSN users, and 50 percent off for PlayStation Plus members. The sale begins today and lasts one week only. The cancellation of this year's Indie Game Challenge, an annual event at the DICE conference since 2009, is not a reflection of the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences' support of indie game, the academy tells Polygon. Yesterday, GameStop confirmed to Polygon that the retailer wouldn't be hosting the challenge this year and that the award was on temporary hold. The "hiatus" will allow the company to "take time to analyze ways to promote and celebrate the independent game movement," an official said. Reached for comment, an academy spokeswoman said they are addressing the lack of indie games at the conference with new programming. The Indie Game Challenge is on hiatus and will not be held during DICE 2013, a representative from IGC sponsor GameStop revealed to Polygon. "The 2012 - 13 Indie Game Challenge (IGC) will be on hiatus while we take time to analyze ways to promote and celebrate the independent game movement," GameStop's media relations manager Wendy Dominguez confirmed via email. "We have been committed and continue to be committed to supporting the independent game developer community. "Post-DICE 2013 we will have more to share."
