Team Meat unveils Mew-Genics title theme

The latest teaser for Team Meat's upcoming cat-centric title, Mew-Genics, has arrived, and this week brings the musicals fruits of the title theme, "Cat Chase." According to Edmund McMillen, who posted the update, the game's music is being penned and composed by Jon Evans and Matthias Bossi, who voiced the narrator in The Binding of Isaac. Mew-Genics will feature a full album with more than 20 studio-recorded tracks, half of which will contain lyrics. "We really wanted to make the game's music feature extended themes of the game or small stories within each song, kind of how Katamari did it in a way, except all our songs are about cats!" McMillen wrote. Team Meat continues to reveal details about Mew-Genics on a weekly basis. Last week, McMillen wrote that players will never get the...

The Binding of Isaac creator polls players on remake's 16-bit style

Edmund McMillen of Team Meat has posted several mockup images for the retro remake of The Binding of Isaac, along with a poll gauging fan reactions, on his personal blog. McMillen warns that the images "aren't real in the slightest" and do not show the actual game, but are instead there to see how fans will react to a retro pixilated style. The survey asks players whether they prefer a graphical style influenced by The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, a Game Boy Advance style of graphics or other 16-bit options. Proposed platforms for Rebirth include PC, iPad, PlayStation Vita, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. Plans for a console remake of The Binding of Isaac were revealed on Nov. 28 during a Gamasutra post-mortem on the game. McMillen hopes to remake the game in...

The Binding of Isaac being remade for consoles in 16-bit 'Rebirth' with local co-op

The Binding of Isaac has sold more than one million copies for PC and Mac combined on Steam in the past year, and a remake is in the works for consoles, creator Edmund McMillen wrote in the game's post-mortem on Gamasutra. McMillen said he was approached by Tyrone Rodriguez of Nicalis, publisher of Cave Story and VVVVVV, to create a remake for consoles, The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth. McMillen accepted, but with certain conditions. "I wanted the game to feature the second planned expansion that I couldn't do in the Flash version, I wanted it to feature local co-op, I wanted the graphics to be totally remade in 16-bit but still look and feel like the Flash version, and finally, I didn't want to deal with anything when it came to business," he said. McMillen said it's "too early" to...
