The Cave headed to iOS this summer

The Cave, Double Fine's modern adventure game staring a large cast of mismatched characters and an anthropomorphic cave, is headed to iOS this summer, a representative from the developer confirmed to Polygon. According to a hands-on report from TouchGen, the mobile version remaps the control scheme to focus on taps instead of a virtual stick for movement and adds swipes for jumps. Sega bringing Mickey, Sonic and more to E3 2013

Sega will bring games starring Mickey Mouse, Sonic the Hedgehog and soldiers old and new to E3 2013, according to a post on the Sega Blog. Games on the show floor will include Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live Arcade, Windows PC), Relic Entertainment's Company of Heroes 2 (Windows), Sonic Lost World (Wii U, Nintendo 3DS) and The Creative Assembly's Total War: Rome 2 (Windows). Double Fine Productions' The Cave, which was released last year, will also be on-hand. E3 2013 will run June 11-13, and Polygon will be there to bring you all the news. Amazon store arrives for indie games

Amazon today launched a storefront dedicated to indie games, along with a raft of promotional deals. The Indie Games Store is a new category nested in the Digital Video Games Store. It features the likes of Don't Starve, FTL and The Bridge. In an Amazon blog post, technical evangelist Peter Heinrich explained that the initiative is designed to "specifically help indie game developers with promoting their PC, Mac, and browser-based games while helping gamers discover a large and growing selection of innovative indie games." He added, "Powerhouse game studios don't hold a monopoly on inventiveness or creativity, and some of the best games of all time were created on a shoestring by two or three people with a shared vision. Capy, Double Fine and Media Molecule headed to Horizon 'alternative E3 press conference' next month

Capybara Games (Critter Crunch, Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP, Super Time Force), Double Fine Productions (Dropchord, The Cave, Psychonauts) and Media Molecule (the LittleBigPlanet series, Tearaway) will participate in the "alternative E3 press conference" Horizon next month, co-sponsor Venus Patrol reports. In the event's initial announcement, organizers teased "very possibly some super secret new surprises that will be entirely unexpected," and today's announcement revealed that developers will have "a selection of their unreleased and unannounced games" at the event on Thursday, June 13. PAX Australia is 'completely sold out!'

All passes to the Australian Penny Arcade Expo (PAX Australia) to be held this year in Melbourne have sold out, according to its official Facebook page. "We have no plans to release any further tickets for sale," a PAX spokesperson stated on the event's Facebook page. "The venue and buildings we have are sized to fit this number, we don't want you all squished or having to line up all day." The update noted that tickets will be sent out in June and those who applied to be Enforcers, volunteer expo staff, can expect to get responses "soon, especially now PAX East is over for 2013." The Cave and Tekken 6 free for PlayStation Plus members this week

The Cave for PlayStation 3 and Tekken 6 for PSP (with PS Vita support) are coming to the PlayStation Plus Instant Game Collection this week, according to the PlayStation Blog. PlayStation Plus members will receive both games for free and also be eligible for discounts on Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken ($40 percent off for PS Plus members) and Hot Shots Golf: World Invitational Course and Character Pack (25 percent off for PS Plus members). As of March 26, Plants vs. Zombies for the PS Vita will leave the Instant Game Collection and discounts on the Scott Pilgrim Ultimate Edition and multiplayer packs will come to an end. Ron Gilbert leaves Double Fine

Game designer Ron Gilbert, best known for his work on the Monkey Island series and Maniac Mansion, announced he's leaving Double Fine Productions now that work on his adventure game The Cave is complete. In a post on Gilbert's website, Grumpy Gamer, he writes "it's time for me to move on from Double Fine and plot my next move." It would appear that next move is still within the realm of gaming, as Gilbert notes, "So many games left to be designed."
