Plans to develop a role-playing game based on long-running TV series The Simpsons was in discussions at one stage, series writer and executive producer Al Jean said in an interview with Gold Derby. "We've talked about it and it's a really complicated thing to do, especially because you have to write a number of possibilities for each current [character]," Jean said when it was pointed out that a game based on The Simpsons could translate well as an RPG. "There's an unbelievable history of videos games that have come off the show, you know, the variety. I think that kind of thing is not going to stop, in fact, it will just increase." The Simpsons: Tapped Out's Winter Update is the subject of a trailer released today that showcases the game's free Christmas-themed additions. Released earlier this month, the Winter Update brings new characters like Barney and Sideshow Mel, new buildings, Christmas lights and more to Electronic Arts' free-to-play iOS title, according to the game's listing on iTunes.
